Royal Palms construction

Since my sentimental favorite Villa Amanecer is no more, I am looking into staying at a condo in the area. The Royal Palms look very promising, but I saw a thread indicating there would be heavy-duty construction right next door. Is that the case? I'm hoping to come in early March.

I do realize there's bound to be construction nearby no matter where I stay in Playa, but I'm just hoping it isn't immediately outside my window...

The royal palms is where we stay every year. I would send them an email and ask them yourself. I'm used to sleeping with a fan every night to drown out background noise, so, I bring a small one with me and can't hear any of the sounds coming from 5th ave.

When I was there in early Dec, they were building condos (I assume) immediately across the street, on 26th between 1st and 5th. No idea how far along they are now - maybe they'll be done by March but maybe not. It would be pretty noisy during the day, but not at night as they're not working. How early they start in the morning might be an issue if you sleep late.

If the construction is where shammy says it is, then definitely don't rent #6. number 4 is very nice and would be the furthest away from that construction. but be sure to ask with management.

I tried to post this in another section, but was not allowed access...So I will try it here...forgive me i have sinned,,lol

I am trying to find out info on the Royal Palms Condo's..The pic's look great..My major concern is the construction taking place in the close proximity..By the way, does anyone know when the construction is due to complete ?
Any helpful info will be appreciated..Larry

Love them! Stayed there four times......3 different units and really love it there.

There is construction everywhere in the north end. Beginning, ending........continuing........Hard to avoid, but once you go thru the gate of the condo's courtyard.........all is forgotten.

Thank you for the info....Just a little info please...I know the condo's are located at 5th and 26th..Can you tell me which corner ? I have looked at satellite photo's and I cant tell exactly where they are located...We were considering a rooftop unit, 7 and 11..Any thought's? Also how did you do transportation to and from the airport ??
We have stayed at the RPDC in 06 and 07, so we are somewhat familiar with the area...Thanks in advance

If you are walking up 5th headed north, take a right on Calle 26 and Royal Palms will be on your left....almost on the corner of 5th.
We just stayed in a rooftop unit in March. Beautiful. Unit #7 has 3 bedrooms and unit #11 has 2. Depending on what your needs are. There's nothing like walking out your kitchen onto the rooftop balcony. Its breathtaking.

I'll pm you some pictures if you'd like.......

Its funny........we also stayed at the Royal Porto Real in 2006 and 2007. That's what it was called then. It seemed we spent more time off the property and in town, so this made more sense for us.

Why not post some pics for all interested right here in this thread, Kim?
I'm sure there are more Peeps interested what's going on construction-wise over there...

I stayed at the Royal Palms in February in unit 1. The construction across the street starts at the dot of 7. I was usually up at that hour to get ready to go diving, so it didn't really bother me. What did bother me was the loud band at midnight from the bar at 26th & 1st. The Royal Palms really is a nice place to stay. Very well maintained and a cordial staff.

No much in the way of construction pictures, but here's a few:
This was taken from the kitchen of Unit #1. I was amazed by the female construction workers:

Having trouble with the "edit" button once again, but I wanted to mention.........the pentouse units #10 and #11 are the ones that you can walk right onto the rooftop terrace. Unit #7 is a bit different. The rooftop is still beautiful and very unique, but you have to take a spiral stairway to get to it. I didn't want to mislead you to think you could walk right out onto it.

What's up with that "edit" button anyway? After editing my post and hitting save, it just keeps twirling and twirling.......never making the edit.
