We stayed at Posado Mariposa several times a few years ago before we got our apartment. It is very basic, but it was very clean and comfortable. The suites have a kitchenette and they have air conditioning and cable TV. There is no swimming pool. I think back in 2001 we paid $35 per night for a one bedroom suite.

We have stayed at both. I think of the two I preferred Posada Mariposa. It is very basic, but was clean and QUIET. There was a bit of traffic noise at HRC
that tended to keep me up (I am a very light sleeper). I found the location to be perfect at Posada Mariposa with La Vagabunda directly across the street fro breakfast and within easy walking distance of the beach clubs. When we were there they provided you with Mamita's beach passes. |

Have not stayed at Posada Mariposa, but can give you feedback on similar small hotels we stayed at COCO rio Last year 2007 (passes to beach club, 5dlls beach towels NO pool), and Luna Blue 2006 (free beach towels and passes to beach club, no TV in rooms, no pool). Both FANTASTIC and in the location you are looking for. 26th between 5th and 10th ave. I do recommend if you are travelling w/o children, the service, price, location, cleanliness is wonderfull in both. This year i´m considering staying at Hotel Riviera Caribe Maya in may, because it has a swimming pool and we are taking our 8yr old. It seems it changed owners and the remodeled it. It looks great on the website..better than before..great price continental breakfast included, only a short walk from mamitas..free beach towels and 50% pass for loungers at beach club. seems you´ll be in PDC before me...so If you do stay at Hotel riviera caribe maya, please post your feedback on playa.info HAVE A WONDERFULL TRIP! |

We have stayed at Posada Mariposa about 5 times. We always rent an apartment because we sometimes like to cook our own dinners. It's also nice to get up and have coffee without having to do the usual SS&S before you go anywhere. The balcony is a great place to sit in the morning for coffee and before dinner cocktails - great people watching. We haven't stayed there for a few years, mainly because the mattresses were getting soooo old. Not sure if they've invested in new ones yet or not. We still stay in the north end because it is quiet at night and close to our favorite beach hangout .

PM or HCM
Have stayed at Posada Mariposa a number of times over the years and it has been comfortable and clean, basic amenities and no pool but friendly and helpful staff. The rooms have been painted and updated recently. Lucianna and Nadyelli can give you info via e-mailing their site.
HRM changed hands abouut 2 1/2 years ago and Paola who was the manager at PM bought it with partners. They are in the process of also updating the rooms. It is on 10 ave and can get noisey as can Condo hotel patio, part of PM but a seperate building, its above a resturant/bar ? Luna Blue is also a clean looking place on the north end. Haven't stayed there yet but getting hard to find smaller hotels on the north end for longer stays(1 month) as its becoming a popular area. |
