How is this for an awful, tragic, freak accident??
![]() ![]() Helicopter crash kills four in residential neighbourhood Apparently it was a hydro company 'copter and was checking the lines, and had some sort of mechanical problem. The pilot tried to maneuver it to a spot where there was no houses to crash or land...unfortunately it landed on top of a pedestrian who was out for a walk in his neighbourhood, blithely strolling along ![]() ...with his iPod on, according to the news this morning, which is why he never heard it coming- although how couldn't have FELT it above him is strange. Very sad.

This is interesting
From Foxnews
ATHENS, Greece — A 9-year-old girl who went to hospital in central Greece suffering from stomach pains was found to be carrying her embryonic twin, doctors said Thursday. Doctors at Larissa General Hospital examined the girl and surgically removed a growth they later discovered was an embryo about six centimeters (more than two inches) long. "They could see on the right side that her belly was swollen, but they couldn't suspect that this tumor would hide an embryo," hospital director Iakovos Brouskelis said. The girl has made a full recovery, he said. Andreas Markou, head of the hospital's pediatric department, said the embryo was a formed fetus with a head, hair and eyes, but no brain or umbilical cord. Markou said cases where one of a set of twins absorbs the other in the womb occurs in one of 500,000 live births. The girl's family did not want to be identified, hospital officials said. |

Could he really be a hobbit
Pruthviraj Patil has tried many things to cure himself of the hypertrichosis that ails him, but to no avail.
Hypertrichosis, a rare genetic condition also known as Werewolf Syndrome, causes 11-year-old Pruthviraj’s body to be covered with thick, matted hair, London’s Telegraph reported. Pruthviraj, who is from the district of Sangli, near Mumbai, India, is one of 50 people in the world who suffers from the condition, according to the newspaper. Even homeopathy, traditional Indian ayurvedic remedies and laser surgery only works temporarily: The hair grows back, Pruthviraj said. Click here to discuss this story. The boy said he rarely leaves his village because of the cruelty of strangers and he has been bullied throughout his childhood. "Why did God do this to us?" said Pruthviraj’s mother, Anita, 32. "He looks so odd and wherever we go people throng to see him." Plastic surgeon Vinay Saoji, who examined Pruthviraj, said the condition is very uncommon. "Hairy nevus, where a person has patches of excess hair growth, or hirsutism, is not uncommon, but hair persisting all over the body is very rare." It's a sad condition, but I've seen interviewes with the Mexican men (I think they are brothers, have to look it up later) who have it. They seem to be at peace with their condition and it doesn't seem to have scarred them emotionally at all. Perhaps this has something to do with what I've seen of Mexican culture seeming to be very matter of fact and accepting of what people are like physically (like calling a spade a spade, ie, if you have big ears, you're called "big ears," or "gordo" for fatty). It hardly seems fair, though, that this poor kid is treated so poorly...since isn't it India that is worshiping as a god that baby that was just born with 2 faces?
I seem to remember that the Mexican men with this condition make a very good living as circus performers. |

As a person who was very badly scarred by boiling hot coffee at 1 day before my first b.day. I know what it is like to go through what he is going through. I feel quite bad for him and get very annoyed with the ignorance of some people. |

Aliens just maybe real
Humans dressed up as aliens in Hong Kong.
Former NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr. Edgar Mitchell — a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission — claims aliens exist. He says extraterrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions — but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades. Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview in Birmingham, England, that sources at NASA who had had contact with aliens described the beings as "little people who look strange to us." He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a "small gray" — short, slight frame, large eyes and large head. Mitchell also claimed human technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as the aliens' and "had they been hostile," he warned "we would be been gone by now." • Click here to read the full story at Australia's Daily Telegraph. • Click here to listen to Mitchell's interview with Kerrang! radio. Is that a little bundle in your luggage
STOCKHOLM — The staff at a Swedish airport was not amused when a team from a TV comedy show tried to check in a suitcase with a dwarf inside.
Employees at Bromma airport called police when the dwarf hopped out of the suitcase at the check-in counter. Police soon found that it was a stunt being filmed by a hidden camera for a program on private TV network Kanal 5. Police spokesman Mats Eriksson says airport staff decided against filing charges even though they were "shocked and humiliated" by Wednesday's stunt. Kanal 5 spokesman Dan Panas told Swedish news agency TT that the show was meant to be "provocative and entertaining." He said the stunt was not meant to make fun of little people, but to make entertainment out of "extreme situations." • See Next Story in World • Share: • • • • • |
