I will be visiting the area, and have reservations at the Mayan Palace. I have been told it is located about 15 minutes from PDC.
Can anyone give me any information on the Mayan Palace, as I can find only limited info. I have been told it is a new property, but have no idea of the quality, size, or actual distance from PDC. Any insight is greatly appreciated, and if you have any advice on outdoor activities that I should not miss which are happening the second week of January, this too is appreciated. Thank You, Mark |

Mayan Palace is about 15-20 minutes north of Playa del Carmen, which is the closest town or village. The resort is not finished yet, as far as I know, but I guess they have now opened a part of it for business. Expect construction going on.

Mayan Palace is 12 miles north of PDC between the Carousel Hotel and Playa Del Secreto.
We are heading there Jan 26th, and are also looking for more information. I did find one private page with about 20 pictures or so taken in November. let me know if you would like to see them. Let me know if you have any other info that I might not be aware of. Thanks |

Thank You Durangov8, and Anna for the responses.
The pictures were helpful, and I should be able to post more about the place when I return. I am planning to rent a car, but a little nervous about being in another country driving. Can anyone tell me if it is easy to take a bus from this location to get around in either PDC or Cancun. I am planning on seeing both places, but prefer the less commercial PDC. Thanks again, Mark |

My understanding is that in order to catch a bus or taxi, you must walk a block or so from the airport to do so. Apparently there is only shuttles at the airport and no taxis or buses on the premises. Most people seem to be happy renting taxis or taking the bus to get around, I guess it all depends on how deep your pockets are. From what I can figure out, I will definately not be going to Cancun, why go visit a city when you live in one already? :0) 24 days and counting for me !

I just posted some more information about the Mayan Palace after my visit. This post is under "Mayan Palace" in the All Inclusive area.
