got it
OK, thanks for the posts to both of you. I had heard that the "original" was being knocked off by the one on Constituyentes (and the other on 38th?) but the waiter at the one on Constituyentes swore that this one and the other on 38th were the "real" HC Monterrey and the one on 1st Ave was a knock off, hence my confusion. As I think I posted a while back when I first arrived, my wife and I had a mediocre steak at the new one. Having said that, I've been back twice for the arrachera platter, which was just as good and, as far as I could tell, identical to the one on 1st. I took a friend there who demanded an "authentic" Mexican meal. He was torn between whether El Fogon or Super Carne was better, but he loved both of them.
The new one is close to me as well, within proverbial stumbling distance as it were, especially given the fact that 10th Ave. in front of my condo now looks like a war zone giving the repaving. Gotta dodge those cluster bomberos, or something like that....(cluster firemen? ok, bad example.) Quote:

I think this is the location on 38th, someone else drove that day and to be honest I was not entirely sure where we were at the time, possibly due to excessive amounts of refreshing beverages that had been consumed before heading out to eat that day.
I do know the food was most excellent and the waiter, though we should not have asked, ran across the street and brought back even more beverages for our group. My next visit this May I need to see what in the heck I wrote on the wall that day.
