Hello to all!!! My name is Keri and I don't know if Im in the right place for finding info, but I am looking for some info on local florists, bakeries, and someone to do a wedding ceremony for me....So far the wedding coordinators just put together these packages that seem kind of ridiculous...I would love to use the places the locals use and put together a wedding myself....Any ideas out there?

Hi Keri
![]() You'll have a much better chance of getting replies if you create your own 'thread' in the general section. 1. So, go to the 'General' section, then click on the 'New Thread' button. 2. Give it a title like 'Help needed to find suppliers for a wedding in Playa'. 3. Then write your message. 4. Click 'Submit New Thread'. 5. Then wait for any help, advice and tips to arrive. Good luck and welcome to playa.info! |

Hey Allie! Can you post exactly what documentation (and number of copies of said documentation) you needed to get your cablemas account set up. I am about fed up with our internet service/connection.speed (sorry Corbin) and I'm going the Cablemas route this week. Gracias chica!

Hey Guys,
We still don't have cable because we don't have any proof that we're living in the apartment. They love if you have an electric bill in your name, but we can't get that switched over since we don't have proof that we live here. We're waiting for the attorney to get us a contract drawn up so we can have it notarized as proof that we're renting this apartment. I would imagine getting everything set up is much easier if you're the owner of the place. I will say that getting gas may take a while. We've been out of gas now for about a week and, so far, have put in two "pedidos" (requests) for them to come fill it. I'll be going back there this afternoon to put in another one since they didn't come today, either. I would say that the most helpful things to have are a good grasp of the Spanish language and loads of patience! Saludos, Allie |

Well, we went by Cablemas and you need a Comprobante de Domicilio (or electric bill or water bill in your name- proof that you live where you want them to connect the cable) and a passport. We don't have a C. de D. though we're meeting with our landlord's attorney today to sign the contract, so maybe we'll be able to get her to draw one up for us.
Oh- someone asked what we do... we do web development for US clients, been in business 9 years now and went virtual 2 years ago in preparation for The Move. |

So, Allie, I see that you have already made your acquaintance with some of the frustrations about living in Mexico.
Things like that can take a lot of your time, but it's also a part of the experience. Patience is a virtue - let it become your mantra.

It certainly is a slipperly slope if you start comparing inefficiencies here with efficiencies in the US or Canada... I try to stay away from that type of expat, no need for that type of negativity in my life! Ask an expat Argentinian and they'll tell you how much BETTER Mexico is in a lot of ways- it's all a matter of perspective!
I'm pretty laid back, travelled alot, etc. and I knew about how things work here before I moved, but I can see how some Americans might not be able to adjust and have to move home after being here for a couple months! |
