Forget about that. 99% of local water is RO filtered.

Bad Ice at the Steak house across from La Parilla on 5th Ave
We ate out a lot in town and never ran in to a problem before this past week. We had diner at a steak house on 5th Ave. I am sorry I can't remember the name, but it was across and down from the La Parilla Italian restaurant(nice place). The steaks were incredible, however my husband asked for ice for his warm beer and was stricken with MR minutes after we finished our meal - made it a challenge to get back to the hotel. I know it was the ice because we both shared our food and I was not affected (did not have ice).
I have to say this is the first time in 10 years of visits that this has ocurred and you are probably 99% safe eating and drinking in Playa Del Carmen. |

It could still be something else. People are getting sick all over the world for all kinds of reasons, and it's very difficult to pin down the cause.
EVERYBODY buys their ice here from ice plants that use RO water. That's also very quick for that to affect you.

It's an abbreviation for Reverse Osmosis.
In a nutshell it is a process of pumping water through a very tight membranes, so thight that even tiny fragments of bacteria or viruses cannot go through. Some RO membranes are so tight that they are used for water desalination (dissolved salt molecules will not pass through such membrane). For this reason RO water is considered save. Andrew |
