Aaack!!! I lost my assistant today!
As some of you know, I run a wealth management group. Well, today, my assistant turned in her resignation. She's been with me for 5 years, and I shiver at the thought of training someone new.
FWIW, I don't blame her. She's turning her 1-hour commute to a 5 minute one and will really be stretching her wings, career-wise. But couldn't she have though of my feelings first?!

Sorry to hear this. Love to hear about folks getting out of their comfort zone and going after something new tho, that's amazing for her! - growth is good! And something I need to do myself, just looking for the right opportunity and deciding what I want to be when I grow up.....haven't found anything that I am really passionate about yet, I guess...Now, I am an "assistant" as well so if I can help you online or from a distance, please let me know!!

Given the nature of your business, you don't have to worry about me adding to your workload during this time. ![]() ![]() ![]() I lost a good assistant once too. She got married and moved. I tried to offer her more money to ditch the guy and stay, but a married boss was no competition for a young love. |

Yeah, I'd like to toss my hat into the ring too
....but talk about a long commute.![]() Sorry to hear that James. Starting from scratch again sucks. ![]() It's hard to find good help these days. Up here right now we have a big labour shortage because of the boom. There are McDonalds restaurants that are closing from 1-4 because they can't find enough staff. Coincidentally, my husband is actually changing jobs right now, he has been here (we work at the same company, we met here) for 15 years. It's a big step but a move up, so hard to turn those down. I hope she gave you lots of notice? If you find someone quickly, she could train them. |

I've been thinking of you this week. Oh, would trees but grow to the sky. All, get THIS shite!!! So, she gives us her "two weeks" this morning, we thank her, congratulate her, and get on with it. Busy week, and all. So she leaves for lunch without a word, ten minutes later, I get a call from "management" saying that she called them, said she wouldn't be "comfortable" working the next two weeks and wouldn't be coming back. WTF!!! This from the lady who asked me, LAST WEEK, if I would advise (read: design, obtain components and set-up, gratis) a home theater for her brother. She must've figured I'd done such a great job on HERS! Oh, well. I'm off to Hooter's to hand out cards. |
