Wedding Favor Questions :hmm:

Hi everyone,
So Im just trying to get people's opinions on wedding favors. I don't think they are necessary, seeing as we are paying a ton of money to have a wedding in the first place. I considered bubble wands with a nice "thank you" charm attached by ribbon, but then I just thought of something else. I am a 4 year ovarian cancer survivor and I thought it would be a great idea to donate to a charity (preferably a childhood cancer charity) and make little placecards letting everyone know that in leiu of favors, we have made a donation in thier names. What do you think of this idea?

Great idea. I was at a wedding once where one of the parents had just passed away from cancer, and instead of having people get up and sing a song or something corny for the bride and groom to get up and kiss, they had to first donate $10 or more to the American Cancer Society. I thought that was a great idea.
Congratulations by the way on beating ovarian cancer!!! that's wonderful!!

I think that will mean so much more to your guests than anything else. Most of the time, when the favor is some plastic something I either don't pick it up or end up throwing it away.

We want to help a child with cancer have a special day. So instead of giving out party favors, have we decided to donate to the [name of the children's cancer charity here] in honor of your attendance.

how about something like...
As we start our new life together, we want to help provide children with cancer the opportunity to start their life anew, cancer-free. In lieu of favors, we have made a donation to the <charity name>.

It's been a weird trip to say the least, especially since I was only 21 when it happened. BUT Im tough and I kicked its ass (with the help of my friends and family), so now it's my turn to help others!

Congratulations! I think that is a wonderful idea, especially since most wedding favors just get trashed anyways. Like already mentioned, at my nieces wedding they had a basket which you had to make a donation to cancer research in order for them to kiss. There was no limit on it. The kids has alot of fun putting change in it. I think they raised around $400, which was pretty good for a small wedding.
I've also seen donations made to charities in leu of thank you cards as well.
