Xel-Ha

Just a quick thought--do they have lockers there to change from regular clothes to swimsuits? We are going to Tulum Ruins in the AM and Xel-Ha in the afternoon as part of a tour. Or do most of you just wear your swimwear all day? Since we are only there for a couple hours, what are the MUST SEEs/DOs there?

they have lockers. and, i'm pretty sure they have bags at the start of the lazy river to put stuff you don't want getting wet (cameras) in that they'll have waiting for you after you've finished.

have fun!

They do have lockers. For me, the must-do is snorkelling and if you have time do the tube ride on the river. You really can spend all day there to see the whole area.

I would like to spend all day there-It looks like there is more to do there then at Tulum. Thanks for the info. Do they have locker rooms also, or just lockers to lock your stuff up--do they have changing rooms?

They have lockers/changing rooms with little showers. It is pretty nice there. I did the same tour when I was there 3 years ago. We splurged a little and got the ai package and it was worth it when it came to food/drinks.

Do yourself a favor and bring your own snorkel gear if you can. Their snorkels were leaky and a pain in the neck to use!! Also, we did the "all inclusive" thing with food. We thought the food was awful! We ate at the big buffet thing....ugh, it was gross.

I think it is all AI now. that is the only price I saw on the website. Can you drink and float on the river at the same time?

Neither of us have snorkeled before and tuesday and wednesday we are on a tour that has snorkeling included, so I can't be too picky. I hope you can float with life vests on.

Do you mean snorkel with life vests on? (floating with life vests is kind of the point ). Yes, you can snorkel with life vests on. You'll really enjoy it. It is a pretty cool place. I would choose the snorkeling over the tube thing....there is so much to see there!

I havent been to Xel Ha in a couple of years but I really loved it. So much to do and see. We went "AI" and thought it was well worth it...we didn't eat at the buffett so I can't comment on that but the regular restaurant was great.

The way it was in the past ..if you got tubes and went down the river you were given a bag for all your items you can't / don't want to take on the river. The bag has a lock on it and they're loaded onto a flat bed and taken to the end point (which is close to the front of the park) so you can pick it up there when you're ready. There are lockers and showers at that point.
Have fun!!

I don't think we even saw the buffet or knew there was one until later. We were a bit overwhelmed with everything.
Been twice and still haven't seen all of the park.

We were there two years ago and had a great time. We did the AI thing and had good food at the A La Carte restaurant. We spent the whole day there. We snorkeled down the river instead of tubing it. The earlier you get there the better.
