Barcelo Maya Palace-Honeymoon?
Hello! I'm new and I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions about Barcelo Maya Palace as a Honeymoon destination?
I realize that it is not adult only but am not too worried about that. However in all the looking that I've done so far I haven't seen anyone mention this as their choice for a Honeymoon. I have only seen the ocean one time and that was in florida and I was greatly disappointed with the water. So the most important thing to me is a good beach with turquoise water. We were originally looking at Secrets Capri, but after reading some on this board, I think I will be disappointed by the beach/water. Our next choice would have been the IB Grand but it is a little out of our price range. So, I've been looking at pictures on flickr of other people's trips and the Barcelo Maya Palace looks very ideal and fantastic. Plus I've read such rave reviews. We really want to snorkel and have lots of fun activities! I don't mind having children or families around, but I also don't want that crowded Disney World feeling. Does that make any sense? Sorry this was so long, I guess I just want to know if as honeymooners we will feel totally out of place with the vibe of the place.(we were thinking end of July btw) |

Hi Emie,
Welcome to the forum. I think your choice of the Barcelo would be a good one after reading your post. The beach and water in that resort is great and so are the pools. I have not been since they finished the Palace section so I suggest you check out this website: UNOFFICIAL BARCELO MAYA | Your unofficial guide to Beach | Caribe | Tropical | Colonial | Palace You should find many pictures and answers there, nice people and very knowledgeble on the Barcelos.
