Thumbs down Anyone Seen Zeitgeist?

This is sort of a related topic to that Jesus Camp thread but I didn't want to go OT in there.

The other day Don and I watched a documentary (putting it loosely) called Zeitgeist. One of his employees had a DVD of it and gave it to him.

Synopsis here

Oh....my....

Okay, granted Part 1 was quite interesting even though it's nothing original or new, it basically compares the tenets of Christianity and contrasts and compares it with the numerous religions that went before that also had the same basic tenets- a sun god who fathers a mortal son, a virgin birth, 12 disciples, a crucifixion, the resurrection, etc., etc.

Interesting, but wholly unoriginal.

But Parts 2 and 3....wow.

Major conspiracy theory garbagola! Some 9/11 stuff thrown in with some bankers are evil and the Federal Reserve is out to rule the world hocus pocus....one worl gov't and one world currency, etc. The 'Amero' is going to be the new currency for all of North America, etc. If it wasn't so pathetic it would have been funny!

It had no credits *shiver*...but you can download it here:

Haven't seen it - but kinda weird to name it "zeitgeist" if it's based on
radical conspiracy theories. Methinks.

There are many things in this movie that may be true. Others that I agree with, but the connections made are questionable and too vague to measure it against the cold hard facts.

I know, it seems odd....I think they named it that because in the VERY vague Part 3, they are talking about how people need to smarten up and rise up against the dumbing down of society, the control of us by the media, the banks, etc.

But conspiracy theories galore, yes ....the same old story, the CIA planned and executed 9/11 in order to give the US and excuse to start a war in Iraq to destablize it, build military bases there, and eventually gain control of the region's oil. As evidenced by the whole Pentagon 'there was no plane' , the mystery of the identitites of the hijackers, the mystery of the explosions in the basement and why the WTC building 7 fell, all that old BS.

it's good for a chuckle if nothing else.

I know, but I thought it was adressing the dominant cultural spirit
at that specific time...
