Airlines, go figure

I have been looking at some prices to Cancun for a maybe trip in late March-early April. Best price so far is with Mexicana - $320 round trip from Portland plus taxes through Guadalajara.

Here is the puzzling part:

Round trip to Guadalajara is $432 + tax

Round trip to Cancun with a plane change in Guadalajara is $320 + tax.

Once again

check this out also...the true cost!!!- $9.99 from Austin, TX

OK, so $9.99 each way to Cancun sounds wonderful, though it won’t help those of you who want to go for spring break; it won’t start flying out of Austin until May. But what will that ticket really cost you? I went to (their web site) and tried to book a trip in May. It’s $9.99 each way, but the taxes and fees are huge — $54.99 outbound and $73.99 inbound. My total trip would’ve cost $138.97. Still a deal, but less so than the 20-spot you might be dreaming of.

Ron I think we paid $390 a person from Seattle in May. This is on Frontier airlines with one stop in Denver.
For us this is cheap.

A week ago, I was looking at airfare from San Francisco to Cancun in June, and it was only $74 round trip. Now its well over $300. I don't get it...I'm kicking myself for not buying last week.

Round trip fr Julie and I this year:
Prince George-Vancouver, Vancouver-Dallas, Dallas-Cancun, all one ay there and back, $330Cdn total. Air Canada, American Airlines.

.............that's the taxes that is, used Avion to cover the price, heheh. If we paid out of pocket it would be $2,730Cdn total. Sucks to be up here, gotta keep using the Avion card!

I was going to say $330 how the heck.....then I saw you used your airmiles.. We have to fly out of Seattle...Out of k town it is at least $1200+ a person air only.

I was talking with my cousin Vido just now, he said by March, Horizon Airlines (linked in with Alaskan Air someway) will have a direct to Seattle out of Prince George, that could work out pretty darn good for us up here in the future.

Only 240 some odd days to go.........man am I looking forward to the day we can go 4-6 times a year. Gotta get that condo before it's too late!!!

Seattle to Cancun on Horizon (Alaska) is usually reasonably priced...It is the Kelowna to Seattle leg they get us on!

I hope you aren't seriously complaining about that?

We got $99 flights from Saskatoon to Huatulco this year....after all the taxes of course, it worked out to $934 for two of us- but that is a steal of a deal. And it was direct.

Got a $99 to Cabo from Calgary last year too.

And there is always last minute flights to somewhere for $99, $128, $199 plus taxes...you just have to be watchful and willing and/or able to be flexible.

OMG that's a great deal! Wish I had seen it sooner..Austin's only 3 hours away

Anytime there's a 'special' price you can always count on adding at least 100 bucks on for taxes etc.
I'd be all over that like duck on a June bug.

So far cheap tickets. com has brought the least expensive results - $387 per person round trip and that includes taxes. That is cheaper than Alaska using air miles for a discuento.

Hmmmm. Must consult with Kathy this evening.

Would anyone wanna join us for 30th anniversary drinks - assuming we put a package together.

Now for cheap housing

The airline prices are hella whacky. Check out Delta Air Lines math: A round trip ticket from Atlanta to Lafayette, LA is usually about $900. A ticket from Atlanta to Lafayette to Boston (via Cincinnati) and back to Atlanta was about $380.

is right

Fortunately it was my company paying for both of those tickets.
