For you horse-lovers out there

It's not often I have time to browse around for fun, so I was thrilled to find this video. It's probably incredibly boring for most of you, but anyone who has ever tried their hands at dressage will be absolutely amazed by this horse and this performance. It's just so beautiful and flawless, I almost cried. The way the horse never loses his form, the stride, the movements, it's just perfect.

Anna, I didn't watch the clip yet, but I work at Tempel Farms/Tempel Lipizzans, which is a World Renown Lipizzan Dressage Training Barn. Most people do not have a clue when you mention Dressage. I am thrilled that someone actually knows what it is and appreciates the difficulty, and training involved. Why don't you come visit?

WHEN!!??? I'm all over that! Can I get on a horse?

I saw the Spanish Riding School from Vienna a few years ago when they visited Gothenburg. Absolutely astonishing.

If you travel all the way from Sweden just to visit us, I think I could arrange that.

Wow, that would be fantastic. I used to be quite into dressage, but am a bit rusty these days.

Have you seen it yet? Tell me it didn't blow you away.

I did, and both horse and rider are very good, BUT we have riders and horses here that are just as, or better. I guess because I see it all the time, I do not appreciate it as much. And, I do not ride. I have worked here for 18 years, and have never had the desire to sit upon one of the Lipizzans.

It is a beautiful display. Thanks for reminding me in the dead of winter, what us riders strive for.

Wow, then I'm really looking forward to a visit; that is world class dressage on a high level. Do you have a website?

Anna, we've talked about the Tempel Lippizans before; where Cathy works is near where I grew up.

If you do make a trip, we'll have to make sure it's when I'm home visiting my mama.

Beautiful horse! And the way it uses the tail for balance is uncanny (or so it seems to me).

One of my best friends rode with Portugal's National Republican Guard for over 10 years.

I used to be amazed at the skills displayed in riding bareback and how later on these were translated to both jumping and dressage.
They rode Lusitanians.

Holy Crap, I can only imagine the thousands of hours that went into that level of excellence. I only got as far as teaching my gelding flying lead changes before I ran out of patience. Lazy trail rides were more fun for me.

At the risk of sounding snarky, the tail swishing is one thing that's not so great in this video. Often means the horse is unhappy or irritated. It takes away from the overall asthetic of the performance IMO.

That was way cool. That horse dances better than most white people.
