Dress shoes when dining at RPDC?

Need some last minute info on whether RPDC require men to wear dress shoes in their finer restaurants. I brought some last year and used them in one of the restaurants but can't recall if sandals were acceptable. I am looking to travel a little lighter this year and would like to leave the dress shoes behind. Thanks!

Leave the dress shoes at home, you won't need them.

Not dress shoes but not flip flops/beach sandals either!

My husb wore open toe doc martens fisherman sandals the entire time to every restaurant & was fine, didn't stand out either. I honestly didn't even notice what the other men were wearing.

Hey Shammy - I assume this would apply to other resorts with nicer restaurants. We should maybe pack one nicer outfit for those occasions? We're headed to Playacar Palace.

Ala carte restaurants at all AI resorts require men to wear pants and no "beach" type sandals. Women should be dressed appropriately as well - as if you were heading out to a nice restaurant at home.

Thanks Sham. Although "appropriate" is subjective! We are in Austin and jeans are appropriate everywhere!

Yes, I guess it is!

But trust me, you'll see slim to no women wearing jeans. Jeans in Mexico alone is odd (too hot!), women tend to wear sundresses, skirts, capri's - things like that. Men would do well with a light pair of khaki or Dockers, along that line. While men can (and some do!) wear jeans, they're just so - unMexico-like (and hot!)!
