Holy Week Restrictions??

Hello all,
I spent a wonderful week in Playa early Jan. and have the need for more sun and sand. A friend wants to go south again but to DR. I of course want to come back to Playa. From reading the board, I missed so much and so many great people that I haven't had the opportunity to meet. (I did meet one or two of you).
I noticed that Dominican has restrictions on activities, bars, etc during Holy Week in March (16th to 26 approx). Does Playa have such restrictions??
Terrific community on the board.
Thanks,
BB

thanks for posting this, my wife and I were talking last night if, since Ash Wednesday (for Catholics) is this Wednesday--the day after fat tuesday or mardi gras--if there were any restrictions--like the elections.

We were in Playa last yr during Holy Week......VERY busy, more vibrant than ever, more partying it seemed so if there were restrictions.....didn't seem to notice any! We purposely tried to stay away from 5th that week and headed off the beaten track to dine more locally. The beaches were far busier than usual - couldn't believe Xpu-Ha beach which is usually so tranquil - there were hundreds of campers tented out between La Playa beachclub and the old Copocabana (now Catalonia Tulum or something like that).....not the prettiest sight but shortlived.

I was in Playa last year from Holy Thursday through Easter.

We really enjoyed seeing all the families in town and at the beach. It was busy but fun and interesting.

Nothing was closed.

We're arriving on the 24th and was hoping to miss some of the Easter travelers. Does the schools in the area not have school the week after Easter also?

It slowly gets better as soon as Easter Sunday passes. The Fri-Sun of Easter weekend is the craziest, busiest time. By Monday there were noticeably less people around, and by mid week, it was just usual high season busy.

Thanks, maybe I can convince my traveling companion that Playa is the only place to go.
