Questions about Grand Riviera Princess Laguna Villa Suites
My boyfriend and I have booked a vacation to the Grand Riviera Princess Resort and as of now, we are set to stay in the Laguna Villa Suites. I'm am so excited! The pictures of the resort look beautiful BUT I have a few questions about the rooms.
In the Laguna Villas, is there only an outside shower?? In one of the pictures I saw, it looked to me like there was a two person shower in front of the jacuzzi, and in other pictures, it looked as if there is was only one outside/outdoor shower. Here are the pictures. ![]() (pictures from: Grand Sunset Princess - All Inclusive - Cancun) Also, I was wondering if the Villas seem to be the way to go or if the platinum suites are better? I personally kind of like the jacuzzi being outside, opposed to behind my bed (and the fact that there is no "designated bathroom" in the villa?), but I'm not sure. Any information any one has on the Villas would be helpful! Thank you! |

There is a "real" indoor bathroom with shower. Here's the room descriptions:
Platinum Suite, Platinum Suites can have an ocean view. King bedded rooms have trundle bed which equals 2 single beds. Bedroom and living area with Jacuzzi on the balcony/terrace. Bedding: 1 king bed or 2 queen beds. Accommodation amenities include: bathtub (Jacuzzi), shower (separate), turndown service, CD/DVD player, telephone (in bathroom), slippers, videos (on demand), bathrobes, room service (24-hour) and pillow menu. Laguna Villa Suite, All inclusions of the Platinum Suite as well as a bedroom with living area, Jacuzzi, free 1 day spa package (30 minute massage, facial, manicure, pedicure), daily newspaper service in room. Bedding: 1 king bed or 2 queen beds. The Laguna Villas are adults only so if you want your room to be away from any kids, that would be a good choice. |

OH! and to answer my own question, I just spoke to some one who has stayed at the laguna villa suites and they have informed me that there is not a separate full bathroom. There is the separate large mayan shower, a separate area for the toilet, and then the two sinks in front of the jacuzzi. =]

But is the mayan shower inside or outside, and is there ANY shower or tub inside?
How weird would it be if there were no bathing facilities inside? And if that's true, their room descriptions are incorrect! ![]() |

The mayan shower downstairs is outside on the first story villas, and on the second story villas they have a cover I believe, but the whole front (which connects the shower to the room) is clear glass. No privacy for couples, haha. The only tub that is inside the room is the one behind the bed (the jacuzzi) so if you don't mind bathing in a tub, then that is available. I also found some pictures on tripadvisor[dot]com under the Grand Riviera Princess photos.
Yeah, the room descriptions were very different on different websites which is what confused me. |

Ok, well as long as there IS a shower inside, I would think that's sufficient. The Laguna Villas are for couples/adults only, so I'm thinking that "privacy" between a couple isn't much of an issue anyway. If it is, then booking a Platinum Suite would be a better idea.

Laguna Villa Suite are up by the lobby, 5 -7 min walk to the beach. They are all looking into a center lagoon area of brown water. There is a nice clean water pool in the center of the lagoon. You move around the area on walkways. The Resorts spa service huts are in the same lagoon area. These villa's also have a view of the big gym building and show building. The building kind of reminds me of an airport. The area is very pretty at night - day time not so good because of the brown water.
If it were me, I'd go with the the platinum down by the beach. They have a nice private pool too surrounded by shrubs. Most of these Sunset Rooms have great views - avoid the outward facing back side of the Riviera side, ekk! |
