I have never seen lava cake in Playa. At Chicago don José, for dessert, there is a fabulous warm brownie with vanilla ice cream.

I found this recipe on Recipe Zaar- you could make it yourself anytime you wanted and I think all these ingredients are even available here!

Chocolate Lava Cake

This chocolate cake is all the rage at trendy restaurants. Just crack it open to find a lovely gooey center.

1/2 lb bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
1/2 lb unsalted butter
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup flour

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Butter the bottom and sides of 15 4oz ramekins.
3. Sprinkle with sugar, tapping to remove extra sugar.
4. In double boiler, melt the chocolate and butter.
5. Whisk until thoroughly melted.
6. In a large bowl whisk together the eggs, sugar and flour until just blended Gradually whisk the chocolate into the egg mixture until combined.
7. Evenly divide the mixture between the prepared ramekins, using about 1/3 cup for each Place the ramekins on a baking sheet for 10-12 minutes until the tops are firm and beginning to crack and the edges are set Remove from oven and serve immediately with ice cream.

I know this sounds tacky, BUT, Safeway/Vons grocery stores in the US sell individual lava cakes in the frozen dessert section (2 or 4 per box). All you do is microwave them. We serve them with high quality vanilla icecream (Hagen Dazs) and fresh raspberries. They look and taste great. One of my friends served them at New Years and as we all gushed about them, and she told us her secret !!

Char, here's the page it came from. Some of the reviews mentioned some tips that might help.

Oh! Cupcake papers... that might solve that problem... makes them a bit smaller and probably not as "pretty" of a presentation, but maybe with a raspberry sauce and a dollop of fresh whipped cream, weeelll....

Thanks, babe...

So now YOU can try it out, chocolate girl and let us know how it turns out. Chocolate, butter, sugar... no way it's not yummy.
