Finally posting..from WI
Hola everyone,
Long...longtime lurker, finally decided to join in the fun. We've been traveling to Mexico since the mid-80s, first a honeymoon in Ixtapa, a cruise to Cozumel, an all-inclusive trip to Moon Palace and finally yearly trips to Playa in the smaller, fabulous boutique hotels. We have ventured south to most of the small towns from Playa to Belize. A couple of years ago we took the plunge and bought a small place in Xcalak. Nothing more than a lot, with a palapa, outdoor shower and a small caretakers shed. Hope to eventually build a home for our retirement. We're avid snorkelers and we finally learned to dive here in WI and have been on a few dive trips in the Caribbean. Hope to do some diving in Playa during our next trip in April. Love all the trip reports and hope to attend a peep meet this year. Last edited by RIP Rory : 02-01-2008 at 11:37 PM. |

Welcome!! I hope to get down to Xcalak soon with hubby. I wanted to stay down there during our next trip but he wants to stay in Playa. I think you were very smart buying down there for retirement!!

Moon Palace was great. I think our son was a little younger than 12, maybe 6-8 when we went, but we all had a great time. We rented a car for a few days to explore the area on our own and that led to our future trips.

I searched and searched on how to upload pictures, hoping a few pix would suffice in lieu of a trip report. Will keep trying. |

Hi and welcome. A couple of years ago a few of us peeps did a roadtrip to xcalak. We only stayed one night but we had a wonderful adventure. I'm sure if you did a search on this sight you will see our trip reports. Love the town, would like to go back and spend more time
