HELLO new to this FORUM!
I am traveling to the Riviera Maya.. May 1st to the 10th..... Staying at the Grand Sunset Princess with 6 ppl... I've read some reviews some Great and some terrible... I'm an easy going person and don't need much... just a nice colada and the beach and maybe some partying at night! Was this a good choice to book here for a group of people ages ranging 24 to 28!??? |

If you were my 24-year-old (and I do have one), I'd suggest that you relocate to another resort if you want some fun and partying nightlife that doesn't end at 11PM. Aside from the very, very mixed reviews this resort is getting, it's definitely not known for its appeal to a younger crowd. It's not too late for you to make the change - Speaking as your surrogate mother
, I say make the change! |

But if you got a great deal?? Go for it & enjoy There will be many people your age at the resort and you will meet them at the pool ,beach, bars, ETC.. everyday. not sure what you define as nightlife? You will have a great time though!!Last edited by KC Arrowhead : 02-10-2008 at 12:30 AM. |

Listen kids - a question was asked, I gave my input. I wasn't looking for a debate on why anyone should or shouldn't stay at their resort of choice. As far as the Grand Sunset/Riviera Princess is concerned, if you check the Tripadvisor, Expedia, and Travelocity resort reviews, you'll see that no matter whether the reviews are positive or negative, almost all reviewers DON'T recommend this resort for young singles or for those who want nightlife. Also, if your vacation is 4 months away, the conditions at GSP will likely be better and more predictable than they are right now. I wish all a great vacation no matter where you land!

I have been to Barcelo and Love it, but not much to do after 11 unless you go to the Disco. I honestly think the RIU Complex is great for evening fun. The Yucatan was great but you can stay at the Tequila or the Playacar and use all the facilities. They kept the theatre bars open until 12 and they had really fun entertainment too, then you can hang out in the lobby bar, people seemed to party untill late , or spots bar at the Tequila and both are upen 24 hours and you can also go to the disco.
You are close to Playa so you can go to the bars there. The food was the best AI food we have ever had and I have to say we really had a lot of fun at the RIU Yucatan. Good Luck Last edited by K and P : 02-10-2008 at 02:12 PM. |

But every AI resort will not be a nightlife destination. As far as the other web sites you mention? You will see the same advice for any AI regarding "younger" people. My 19 & 16 year old boys are excited about this trip. Also traveling with family that are teens-early 30's and they have been to AI resorts in Jamaica & the Barcelo and loved it. That is why we all planned this trip together at the Princess. Trust me we all like to have a good time in the evening beyond 11:00 and will have a great vacation. Just want you to know I was not coming down on you for your response Everyones advice is welcomed & I know what you were saying, I just wanted to give my point of view as well , like others will also. |

Hello,
Thanks for all the advice! We already booked this hotel because of its WONDERFUL price on BOOKIT!!...ANd We definitely are the type of couples in which we don't mind traveling to go out and find nightlife!! A relaxing hotel is perfect for daytime! Does anyone know how close it is to nightlife? or to Cancun?Quote:

BABette...I always find that the action is where and when you make it ! Having said that though, your a quick 15 minute cab ride into Playa del Carmen and there action abounds...forget Cancun...too far away.
