Oh NO- Camden Market burning.......

For all London fans (like me) who LOVE Camden (like me)- the market/ lock is burning.
It seems to be a major fire and there may be casualties. The stalls were already closed when the calls came in though.

I hope noone was hurt- and I hope the lock/ market will be the same one day...........

The footage on CNN is heartbreaking to me. In fact I think this is CNN US I am seeing as the footage is interjecting a program about American healthcare- so if you tune in you might see it.

HUGE flames, 100 firemen on scene, Chalk Farm Rd. closed off as there is fear of gas canisters nearby.

Oh man- I LOVE the lock and the whole area. I just hope noone is hurt!
In the kitchen I just saw something that I bought in one of the antique sellers in the lock last time.....sniffle.

From what they are saying now it seems the fire is in the open air market, not the lock........not that that makes it any better but well.

A guy calling in is just saying that the fire is now on the verge of jumping over to the MTV studios............ this is huge......... amazing in a negative way.

I know how bad this feels- I have SO many GREAT memories of this place!!!
This fire is HUGE. It has definately spread wider than the market by now.

The tube is closed, the area is being evacuated....... and there is a petrol station nearby.

And the fire doesn't seem to be in control yet from what they are saying!

CNN keeps saying that nothing of that sort has been confirmed by the authorities yet. But it would surprise me if noone was trapped and/or hurt, to be honest....... that would be a miracle in that area on a Saturday night in full swing.

Just found an article on sky news that the lock is not affected.... hope they are right. Apparently the fire is in the open air stalls, if my memory serves me correctly the ones they mean should be those on the other side of the street from the lock......
BUT the Hawley Arms, one of the legendary pubs in the area, has been affected (I take it they mean burned down.....).

Oh no!!! That is my FAVORITE market in London! Makes Portobello road look like a tourist filled dog and pony show!!!

This is tragic... So many people crowded in... I do hope the casualties are minimal.
