Longtime lurker from Mississippi!

Ya'll are having way too much fun and I'm much too excited about my upcoming trip to lurk any longer! I've been coming to the Roo for the last 8 years. We've stayed in Playa, Akumal and Puerto Morelos. I only make it down every year or so. This will be my 6th trip. Everything's changing so fast down there though, I always do a lot of reading on boards and surfing to find out what's new.
I think the saddest thing I've learned so far this year is that the Blue Beach is gone. Simply for sentimental reasons. We stayed there back in 2001 in one of the little beachfront bungalows and I can still remember the feeling I had sitting on the front patio watching the local fishermen and the children playing. It was a very, very memorable trip!
Anywho, this is me. Real wordy when I start writing... Just ask my hubby! My friend and I are coming down for a girls' trip March 26th for 6 nights. She's almost as hooked as I am. This is our 3rd girls' trip down there!
Well, it's nice to finally meet all of you! I've already checked the calendar and we'll be getting in too late for the peep meet on the 26th

... So, maybe we'll meet in person another time. I can tell from the pictures, trip reports and comments that we would all get along just fine!!!

Welcome ,welcome ,welcome, If u ladies like to listen to some great tunes and dance on the beach check out Bad boys on the beach and their band the Nasty Ba,,astards. Thursdays from 4-8 and Pincy Gringos on tues and fridays. Check out Playatube.com I hear lots of locals hang out there.

Well, hi Doris and thankyou! We live in Pearl now. My friend lives in Brandon. Isn't it always amazing what a small world it is!
Our first trip down there, I was on another forum and met the people that own the Parker House Restaurant in Madison and we met up and partied in Playa!

Hi Rackburt, Wow I can't believe you are so close to me. We will have to meet. I am having a very hard time adjusting to Mississippi. I was in Tampa Florida for 20 years so I am in a bit of culture shock to say the least. I haven't even met people here who would consider a trip out of state let alone a trip to Mexico!! Glad to see there are some cool people close by.

Oh, Doris, I can imagine how much of a shock this is for you! I was born here and only lived out of state for 6 years. I've always loved travel and have to break out of suburbia quite often and see the "real world"!

I've met very few here that share my love of travel and especially Mexico except my friend Melinda who happens to be the other half of my upcoming girls' trip! I know they have to be here but I suspect they may be "closet Roo ers"!!!

Ok, now I have to point out some coincidences other than the fact that we're on the same forum... Your birthday is the same as my husband's! Your birth year is the same as mine! You're from Tampa and we were going back down to Madiera Beach/St Pete if we couldn't pull the Playa trip together!! We spent a week there last year and had a really good time. Also, my sister just moved from Clearwater!

We'll have to meet at La Cazuela on Fortification St. sometime. The food's not that great except the fajita quesadilla. But the margaritas are pretty yummy and they have a 2 for 1 happy!

Are you all planning a trip down anytime soon? I would love, love, love to go back this summer but don't know if I'll be able to pull it off!

Hang in there, keep in touch and we'll plan that meeting!

I will be in Playa May 3rd to June 1st. Come on down if you want a break from good ole Mississippi! I would love to meet for Margaritas sometime. I've been to that place once, you're right, Margaritas are much better than the food. El Sombrero on Lakeland has really good food. They even make the "cocktel de Camerone" like they do in Playa. Esta Rico!!

It was taken on our wedding day. Barefoot on the beach in Playa. It was beautiful.
