You folks that have been there in June - how bad is the heat and humidity. Was almost set to book something and got scared off by a guidebook which said 90 deg and 90% humidity... Also considering Dominican Republic - Fodors messageboards are saying it's just as bad there, but that doesn't seem to match what else I'm reading.

We've been the last 2 years, coming up on 3, both of the previous trips were in late June. We, like you, had heard "how hot it is", and though hot, we didn't find it unbearable. Mind you, we live in southern Alabama and are used to heat AND humidity, so maybe it is just us. We usually just wore bathing suits during the day, so maybe that helped stay 'cooler.' It was generally in the low to mid 90's when we were there, has only rained twice when we were there, (once in Tulum, once on Playa), each shower lasting less than 1/2 hour. Don't let the rain/heat/humidity forecasts scare you away, you'll love it. |
