Day 1

Day one starts out rather smoothly. We get up at 4:30am to be at DTW for our 7:00am flight to Cancun. We park our car off site for $8 bucks a day, take the transfer and arrive in our terminal at 6:10am. Much to our surprise no line We get our seats 4A and 4b on USA3000. It was worth the extra $5 to book our seats with the on line reservation. I'm thinking yeah great we'll make the 10:30am ADO bus, or at least 11:30. So the plane is full, the flight attendant closes the door, we're off..............or so I thought. The Captain comes on and says "We need to de-ice the plane" So I'm thinking 20-30 minutes right? Wrong! we taxi to the furthest part of the airport to de-ice. Ok It's done and we're back to where we started 70 minutes later.

Next thing I know the Captain says "flight attendants prepare for departure" We are off!!! Bye 18F Detroit No problemo's during flight. Alisa and I each got a breakfast sandwich at $5(fyi no cash accepted for food). A minute later we finish our breakFAST, you know what I mean after the morning rush. Next up James Bond movie, The spy who loved me. Finally the movie is over. I look out the window and see ocean, and Mexico. We begin our descent. We land! we arrive at terminal 3. WOW, this place is awesome! Cruise through customs. I'm thinking we'll make the 11:30 ADO bus. Wrong! Of course my bag is the last bag off the plane! Thanks to MY bag we miss the bus. Hello 12:30pm ADO bus. We buy our $8 tickets to Playa. So you know what that means $5 beers at coconuts. But you know were in Mexico. It's sunny and 83F. So finally we load up the bus and head to Playa.

We arrive in Playa! We get our bags, and off to Hotel Eclipse! I'm in that hurry up and get there mode. You know the one, get your suit on and to the beach mode. Finally we arrive! We get our room. Room number 22 great balcony, great view. Thanks Matias. $80 a night. Includes hot breakfast, and beach passes to Mamita's($22 value).

I know........I keep asking Alisa what happened next Stay tuned we meet you later that night on day 1. I have to eat dinner and grab another gin and tonic. I'll finish day 1 shortly.

So Alisa and I get our swim suits on and head to the beach. We are hungry so we head to Playa Maya for late lunch. I get the mixed ceviche, Alisa got nachos and we of course got dos cervasa por favor.

After lunch we make our way to bad boys. However, we stop at Fusion for a roadie. I get a Mojito, Alisa a beer.

After finishing our drinks we finally make it to Bad Boy's. We grab seats at the bar. We figure we'll get a couple of beers then head back and change. Wrong! I think I see a peep I know. Guess who?????? It's Tanya. Then Bob(Bobster) with a new haircut. Then Eric(Bluespicker) & Jan(himynameisjan). This is turning in to a peep meet. So 1 beer turns in to 3, in to 5, in to 7, and so on. We just having a great time. Then more peeps show up. Tyramania, Judyblueeyes, biz, kitty, Steve. Met JJ and his wife Kim. All are very cool peeps. Erik You rock bro! What a great time at Bad Boy's. The Nasty Bastards rock. This is a must stop on Thursdays or Saturday from 4-8pm.

After we head back to the hotel to change. As were walking back I hear this voice......Vic.......Vic.......I think I'm hearing things. I hear it again, Vic.......I turn around and it's Brent(Maverick69) and Kathleen. We plan on meeting them at the Bucket. We are on that first day in Playa party mode(you know what I'm talking about). Quick change and off we go. The same crowd is at the Bucket plus Jez, Paulo, Chris B. We order beer after beer. Things start to get a little "foggy". We had a great time. However we head out around 12:00am. We have Tulum/El Paraiso in the morning.

I'm from DTW area too-Know that feeling when you leave at 6am Detroit time and arrive in Playa -it feels like it should be 4 in the afternoon!!!! and it's only 9 or 10 in the am. We like to call it the "LONGEST DAY IN THE WORLD"-and how better to spend it but on the beach!
