What a fun time!!
![]() Great food, great wine, great company, great wine. ![]() ![]() When Bumper asked for the soup recipe (it was awesome and I'm not a "soup person") Chef Dario himself took the time to come to our table and go through the complete recipe and process. A very nice touch! There were 6 choices of appetizer and 6 choices of entree with the rest set by the Chef. I had the Shrimp & Scallops appetizer and the Bison Tenderloin entree and they rocked! ![]() But, then, so did the 3 courses Dario chose. ![]() ![]() Bottom line? If you're in Winnipeg or going to be in Winnipeg, you should really make the effort to find Cafe Dario and give it a try. Anyone else remember what they had? ![]() ![]() |

Between Glenn, myself & Lady Di, here's our list.
Appetizers Alligator/jalapeno kinda like a jalapeno popper Chilled prawn & scallop Salmon cheeks Entrees Lamb rack Bison tenderloin Beef tenderloin & lobster Soup was a corn chowder with a little kick Salad was greens with a sesame oil/mint type dressing Dessert was a tiny slice of cake with strawberries & whipped cream Of course, we all shared & it was totally undescribable!!!! Don & Bumper can tell ya the wines, I'm able to have a glass or so now but I'm still very new to that world. (I need a lesson Bump) The ambiance, friends, food, wine was all amazing!!!!!!! Can't wait to do it again. |

I had the Escargot Diablo, which was almost stew-like, with tender escargot, mushrooms, cheese in a chili broth. Rack of lamb for dinner.
Mr Z had the salmon cheeks, then the chicken wrapped in bacon and stuffed with lettuce and tomato. No one took photos of food. |

We have:
Shrimp & Scallops & Salmon cheeks for starter; Duck Breast (so tender....) and Bison tenderloin for entrees. Don, you were the one with the camera, you did not take any pictures of the food; shame on you ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I forced myself to wait until all the others left us with a private room so all the flashing wouldn't disturb their experience. Unfortunately, they stayed almost as long as we did, forcing us to eat all of the food and drink all of the wine with no pictures of either. ![]() However, I do have a wonderful picture of you and Victor and some others at your end of the table, taken after we finally got our private room , with an absolute "forest" of long-stemmed wine glasses on the table between us. I'd be happy to post it if you agree. ![]() Send me a PM. Since Bumper hasn't chipped in with wine selections yet, I do remember two bottles of a great Malbec from Argentina, 2 of a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, I think, and at least one of a Cabernet-Carminiere blend? Maybe more. I do know there were no leftovers! ![]() |
