First timer

My wife and I are planning to visit Mexico in August for the first time. We'll be there for 5 days. We're trying to decide between staying in Cancun or Playa. We love the beach, but want do to some day activities, maybe Cozemuel, snorkeling etc.. We're planning on staying at either Secrets, or the Sun Palace in Cancun. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome! You'll probably find some info about Secrets in the All-Inclusive forum, though I daresay you'll not find much here about Spa Palace in Cancun.

I'm partial to Playa del Carmen, of course!

Have a great trip.
Perhaps you could find time to check out Playa.
Once you do you will wave bye bye to Cancun.

Cancun is larger with many high-rise hotels....Playa del Carmen has a smaller town feel with heighth restrictions to 3-4 stories and a European-style cobblestone main street with restauirants, shopping and bars all centrally located one block off the beach (5th Avenue or La Quinta Avenida)...we have been to both and like Playa much better....its all in what you are looking for I believe.
