Ditto all the positive feedback on La Tortuga! I was there for 10 of the best nights of my life in Mar-Apr! Anna and Jessica and Bernardo and and and just make you feel like family. Not to mention less than half the price of the other property. For My $ it's La Tortuga!

i have never stayed at Shangri-La, but have stayed at La Tortuga 9 or 10 times and plan on staying 9 nights in one of the new rooms for my honeymoon/wedding in July. i absolutely LOVE this hotel. the pool area is simply gorgeous. i love hanging out there and having cocktails. great to come in off the beach and take a swim around in the winding pool. plus, they have a nice jacuzzi in the middle to relax in. the service at La Tortuga is incredible. from the first time i ever stayed there, i felt very welcome and treated very well. Anna, Bernardo, Jessica...you rock!!
in addition, you get a nice breakfast included with your room. i've eaten dinner there too and the food is great. i can go on and on about how wonderful i think La Tortuga is....... i know that La Tortuga is not directly on the beach, but i prefer to walk to the beach and at night be closer to the central part of Playa. Hello everyone,
I am considering La Tortuga Hotel for my next trip to Playa. I just emailed them for rates and asked them which rooms are quiet as I am a light sleeper and here was their reply: All rooms are very quiet, as we have lately added PVC windows to all, once you close the window, you cannot hear a fly move! So it looks like no more worries about the disco or street noise. I think I am definiately going to stay here my next trip. I like the idea of eating in Playa town versus the all inclusive thing for a change. Kim |

We just stayed at Hotel La Tortuga in one of the new the Jr suites, and they were so quiet and wonderful, it was like the best sleep ever! (The awesome mojito made by Fidel at the pool bar probably helped). The new Jr Suites are my favorite rooms at La Tortuga now, we cant wait to get back there. Anna, Bernardo and the whole staff are just awesome!

Hi Anna
I want to add to this thread that we just booked about a week ago. I not only made my decision based on the positive comments by those here on this site and other forums, but also by the fact that Anna was so quick to respond to my emails (other hotels were not). It was very easy to book as they also have a toll free number to call. Anna answered and was very helpful and within minuted we were booked! We are very much looking forward to our stay! Marita |
