We saw the equinox at Chichen Itza a few years ago. It's an amazing phenomenon. You can read a bit about it, and see a photo of the Castillo, in our Chichen Itza article. So, that was truly amazing to see. But I have to say that what left an even more long-lasting impression was the whole scene around it. There was a lot of people there, some tourists, but mostly Mexicans. Many people were wearing totally while clothes, and some were touching the pyramid as to feed off its mystical energy. There was a big stage where they had performances all day. The day we were there, a choir sang Carmina Burana - very cool indeed. It was a big happening, and a very very cool experience.

The Chichen Itza/ Valladolid Tours begin around 7:30 am and we return around 7:30 pm. Of course pick up times vary for each party on the tour. For the Equinox tours, we will be changing the order of stops so we will be at the ruins later in the day and ready to witness the phoenomena around 4:30 pm. There will be no extra charge for these special equinox tours! This is something not to be missed so sign up soon!

I have never been there and I have read how the Steps add up to the calendar year and that the sun shadows only on one side. But what happens on the Special Equinox?? What do you witness?? and will there be a lot of people that you can not enjoy the tour and really see everything? I just want to find out as much as we can because we are on there 5 days and need travel on two of them. Thanks for your help.
