So did you sign up? How did she convince you 100% forsure that it is not MLM? There was something about an "affiliate" program that kind of scared me. You could sign 2 up under you for cheaper or something like that.
I might go to a full day meeting the end of June, have to do some more thinking about it, but would appreciate any more input you could give. If you check your PM's my email addy. I'd be curious to know what type of ?'s you all asked, 2 pages worth is alot!! Might help me out.

the first question i asked (my trick question) was that i have a few people interested in starting a new travel agency, would i be able to sign them up? the answer was No. the only people who can sign new agents are trained sales people working for Travelonly and she would be more then happy to speak to them depending on where they lived. the only way to make $$$ with Travelonly is by selling travel. Affiliates in my mind is someone to help with the business, if i did sign up i would definately get my wife involved so she could be licensed as well.
i asked so many questions like.. how and why do i need certification? how do i get access to FAMS? how do i quote group travel? when do i get my id card? what happens when a customer books online? what do i do when i want to book my own travel? how competitive are the rates and commissions? how often is training and what happens when i forget something? how long does it take to set up and get going once i sign? the meeting took 3 hours!!!
my next meeting is with my accountant and lawyer., if they give the green light i am seriously considering doing this sooner then later so i can get all my training before winter. i am also trying to take my emotions out of this right now as i cant stop thinking about it! i have been doing a ton of research and have even called some of the agents at TO who seem to be very happy with training and support. i am going to a training event in 3 weeks in toronto and that will be the make or break for me and TO. good luck and if you get anymore info please let me know.

Sounds like what I have been invited to attend. Mine is from 9-5 and is with some people from Toronto head office as well as the Alberta ones. Please let me know what your accountant and lawyer say. I think the reason you can't find alot of info is that most of the agents have different names for their businesses. I guess nothing bad is a good sign, but I am still being very cautious. My biggest obstacle would be to market it where I live out here in the middle of nowhere. We have one travel agent and she made me SO mad when I was trying to book a family holiday a few years ago that I just phoned selloff and booked. I prefer to use local when you live in a small community but I also want some effort made. If I go, I want to drag my mom or dad along so I can have extra ears and eyes. Also someone who is not wanting to do this would be good. I might just hear what I want to hear where they would be more sceptical.

Congrats!! I am very excited for you. I have to cancel going to my meeting due to some labor issues with our business, but am hoping to make another one soon. I am still very nervous about this venture, just not sure how to get the business out here. Wish I lived somewhere else!! Best of luck to you.

Hi, I came across this site after doing some research for travelonly business. Notice you just joined. How was it? Did you purchase the platinum license?

I am very happy with training and my mentor is amazing. I purchased the Platinum and am well on way setting up my first group. check out my online booking engine Travelonly - Home
My advice is to speak with your accountant before you do anything as he understands your TAX situation better then anyone.
