Smoking banned?

How will this affect you?
Smoking Banned
Mexico City - Law makers have voted to ban smoking in bars, resaurants and other enclosed public spaces across the country, which counts some 65,000 cigarette-related deaths each year. The law includes fines and jail time. - Reuters

Thats great, that means I won't have to breath that poison from my husband and friends.
Of course this is coming from an ex-smoker who quit 1 1/2 year ago.

Do you have a link? When is this suppose to go into effect?

"Enclosed" spaces...how many of those kinds of establishments are there in Playa??

I think it's a good thing...seems countries all over the world are picking up on the fact that smoking is unhealthy for us non-smokers too.

It won't affect me at all, because I don't smoke. But, I think it's a crock that the government is legislating things that should be negotiated between establishments and their patrons. Yes, smoking is bad for you, but so is drinking- enjoy your alcohol while you can, because it will be the next vice that they'll attempt to ban.

Recently became a nonsmoker, so I am happy about it.

and poo indeed.
You don't get stinky hair and clothes and stinging eyes from sitting next to someone who is drinking. Unless they puke on you of course.

Don't "poo" me - complain to the management if you're in a place where the smoke's bothering you. Better than having the smoking gestapo fining people- which is usually the agenda behind laws such as this. More fines, more dinero. I hate cigarette smoke more than anyone, I'm allergic to it.

Nothing would be done if they waited for that sort of negotiations.

I am THRILLED. Now if only the French, Italians and Brits would follow suit, my trip would be so much nicer

I wonder how this will affect the big mega AI resorts. How will they enforce it on them.
