Where should I stay
.... for a couple of nites in Playa........ tried to get in at La Tortuga, but some chick has it all booked up for a wedding
........ tried the old standby fav Posada Freud, but they haven't responded...... Playa Maya is always an option, but Lil G is startin to stress over money (I have no idea why she does this ) ......... would prefer to stick with hotels promoted on this site, but James would probably forgive me for going another route........ any suggestions???(yes, I'm too lazy to search ) |

I agree with Heather on Hotel Cielo. I went to a party there a few weeks back and it's very nice. Sneak upstairs to the rooftop and see the lights of Cozumel.
![]() I also really like staying at the Alux hotel. Great location (just a 1/2 block down from La Tortuga), Clean room, newer building, outstanding water pressure and hot HOT water to boot! Cheap too. |

Don't tell Lil'G what you've booked until you get there and stay at Playa Maya. By the time you arrive she will be so happy to be in Playa she won't care about a few extra dollars to be right on the beach.
I seem to recall you should be careful with the vases?!?! |

Hotel Alux reservations via website now working for submission.
Will see if I hear back now. Before I had just used the "contact" icon to send a message. Maya Bric not responded yet. Would like to stay at LB sometime, but this is Christmas week and I am trying to spend less than their Christmas rate, but may go there if there are rooms available. |

Stayed at the Maya Bric last month and found it just fine. Close to everything, clean, quiet and comfy, if somewhat spartan. No TV or radio, or lounging type furniture, but a dandy little pool. Staff was helpful and courteous.

I usually stay at the Maya Bric [Hotel Maya Bric Playa del Carmen European Run Budget Hotel in Central Playa del Carmen Mexico] Yes, it is spartan, but it has a/c and a nice lounge area with tables and chairs. They will put a little TV in your room if you ask nicely for it- they always put one in our room for the kiddies. Plus, there's free Internet access in the lobby. You can't beat the price and location.
I also like the Maya Turquesa.[Hotels Playa del Carmen, Mexico: Maya Turquesa Hotel]. It's just a couple blocks west of 5th Ave. A little further from the beach than the former, but not too far. It's a fairly new place and they have suites with full kitchen on the 2nd floor. |
