Office2007
Why did Microsoft completely change the interface, look, feel and usability from all previous versions?
My mom just got a new computer, it has Office 2007 on it. I picked up the computer last night and brought it home. My job, remove Office 2007 and replace with either Office 2003 or Office 2000. |

We just got a new machine here in our office and it has 2007 on it. IT SUCKS! Very few additional benefit's and complete change of the interface and where all of the tools are located. What a waste of time.
Beware that if you have 2007 on there and use Outlook Express, you will have a problem with Outlook Express dictionary. It seems Office2007 overwrites something in Outlook Express that makes it think it only has a French dictionary. Microsoft is aware of this problem but has no plans to fix it. ![]() ![]() I'm not a big Microsoft fan the past few years (even more so than usual). |

My dad just bought and installed Office 2007 on his PC running XP Pro and it messed up his email and locked all his .jpeg files so they can't be opened or viewed???I dunno - I am taking his word for it, so that is his description of the problem (this from a guy who once emailed a help desk and said "I clicked and then it went "boink"... what do I do now?" ) Apparently I have to make a trip down there (6 hours away!) to fix it, or so I am told! I installed a 60 day trial of Office 2007 for a friend who needed it and when I sent myself the file we created I could not open it with Word 2003. All in all I thought that was pretty crappy. It looks more like a mac user interface now - which is neither bad or good to me, just different.....Congrats on the new computer - are you getting internet - haha! |

In addition there are the docx files 2007 creates.
1st time I got one them with my Office 2000 Word, I was screaming. Microsoft now has add-ons (patches) so older versions of Office can read docx files. The new computer is running XP Pro, not Vista. |

Office2007 and Vista are why I will be hard pressed to ever buy a Windows based machine for my home ever again. No choice at work, but home is another matter. |

It seems to me that Microsoft dropped the ball with this one. They advertised like crazy that Office 2003 was backward compatible. Why can they not do the same with 2007 when most PC users are still using Office 2003 and older?
I love the Mac commercials, and the more Issues I have with a PC, the more I want to change to a Mac. |
