Building just South of Playa Palms

I am very familiar with the building you are speaking of. Nobody seems to have replied, so I'd like to let you know what i know. The building is called Ocean Plaza, but there are not very many signs or any indication of this. The building is 3 stories only, but the top 2 floors are loft-style units so those are 2-stories each, so the building may look like a 5 story building, but it is not. The overall height is not massive.

I own one of the oceanfront units on the ground floor. There is a photo gallery of my unit and other shots of the building at www.aquazulplaya.com if anyone is interested.

I am the first person to move in the building, but others are being furnished as we speak. the location is great, but the noise from Coco Maya is not avoidable. The bedrooms are well enough insulated that I can't hear it at night, but it is the first thing people seem to comment about when I tell them where I am. I think it is a great tradeoff to be right here in the middle of the best area of Playa.

Anyway, that's what I know about the building. If anyone has any questions, I am open to help.

Tim

Cantex

For what it's worth, they are very reputable, professional and put out a good product.

Mareazul is well under construction and promises to be absolutely stunning when it is completed. I missed their sales party on the beach last night as I am laid up with the flu, so no updated pictures to show.
The area that is all cleared is a new District called Costa Turquesa, it is not called Costa del Sol. In other words Costa Turquesa is like Playacar in that it will be a gated community.

Cantex is only building in a small portion on the beach 150 condos and 100 hotel units on the north side, 4 pools, 250 units total, the official name is I'M Beach Hotel and Condominiums, again built by Cantex.

The remaining land which sort of horseshoes around us is still owned and being developed as far as i know by the original land owner and there are various condos and villas etc going all around the horseshoe.

Cantex is also building the Palm on 8th, where the Xache restaurant is , 44 condos, be ready next year we are at obra negra on some buildings already

Mareazul is much further north maybe 1.5 kilometers and part of the Grand Coral gated community

The Paseo del Sol part has been dropped 6 months ago,

to summarize, its the I'M Beach Hotel and Condominiums in the Costa Turquesa community.

A friend of ours who's in real estate in Playa said they're also building a small condo complex in Costa Turquesa with a Mayan name. I can't remember it, but he said it's supposed to be really nice. I think it's toward the north end too, and has already been started. Anyone know?

regarding the mayan named project north of I'M Beachfront Hotel and Condos, i have seen some prelimainary drawings for the project it does have a unique mayan name which i cant remember either.... it showed separate units or buildings widely dispersed throughout the manglar area as that property has many lagos and cenotes, that are being preserved as part of the development. Yes it will be a really nice high end community as all the projects in Costa Turquesa will.

Hi Madchef, we just got back from our condo that is on calle flamingo and CTM. Our unit is furthest from flamingo and we were never woken by loud construction. There are two projects across from us under construction and we could only hear them when at the pool area. They are far past the jackhammer point and mainly heard them singing and an odd beeping from trucks backing up. We actually enjoy sitting at the pool area listening and watching them work on the project across from us. They are always so happy and always singing.

Hey! Yes, I voted for him, but it doesn't look like he's gonna' win. The vote was so close to demand an automatic recount but....

I believe that Cantex wanted to keep the mangrove and build around it. I also know that they plan to add replace and reuse allot of the vegetation that they have removed. From what I know of Cantex and it is quite a bit, they are very reputable and there should be no problems delivering a beautiful end product while keeping the original integrity of the land. The plan is to blend the building in with the surroundings.

Wow!! 'Sounds ambitious!!! I wonder where they are keeping the vegetation that they have removed so that they can reuse it "later". Wow!!
