Reading great trip reports with photos is one of the best things about this forum. As a newbie, it's nice to read great reports and put a face with a name. In the photo captions, I really like it when the report writer includes usernames of the folks in the photo. Helps us newbies put a face with the name.
Unfortunately, although I love to read 'em, I'm loathe to write trip reports. It usually doesn't occur to me until I've forgotten most of the names of the places we go. I'm going to try to do better this year!

Yeah, I love just about all TRs that I have found, but when they are very wordy and the reporter doesn't use paragraphs, it's really hard for my old eyes to read! I wind up having to use my cursor to find the next line. Just irritating and I wind up not reading it.

If we had a separate section for TRs, would we want a Playa TR section, and a separate area for non-Playa trips?

One time, someone started a trip report and "reserved" the next 4 or 5 response boxes in order to post the trip report continuously. The post came up in 4 or 5 running segments and all of the remarks (which are very important to the person writing the trip report, IMHO) came after the trip report. I thought it was brilliant. Sometimes, the trip report is page after page of comments (this is good) and it's hard to weed out the actual report. If it was all at the beginning of the thread, it would be easy to keep up with.
That is a great idea!! Now if I can only remember that next time!

A lot of good points brought up. One thing I like to find in a trip report is a summary of "what worked" "what didn't".
What I mean by that is, for example, you packed several items that you thought was a good idea but you did not use at all. Or how about shoes? You got some new sandals, your happy, can't wait to use them and when you get there you realize they just don't do it for one reason or another.
It adds a logistical insight to the trip and allows the reader to perhaps re-think their packing etc.

Could anyone tell me how long after a new thread or trip report is posted to a moderator before it shows up in the trip reports?

It's instant. You don't have to post it to a moderator, you just start a new thread with a catchy title so everyone will read it.

That's odd because I posted a new thread in the trip reports and It said it had to go to a moderator before it would be posted. It has been a week and I still have not seen it or heard from anyone. I had nothing in the report that I thought was inappropriate so I am naturally puzzled.
