Andrea, At your request, I moved you into the premium room WH23 (Woodward House room with whirlpool and fireplace.....check virtual tours here) for Wednesday and Thursday night...and into a large bay room with access to upstairs deck in the Lodge....see picture here at Large Mountain Lodge room with balcony.

Haven't booked the flights yet, but as of right now, we'd figure on flying into Charlotte on Tuesday, the 16th. Apparently, the Inn is completely sold out, so I guess we'll stay in the city that night. I turn officially "old" that day, so we'll likely go to this marvelous restaurant we found in Charlotte last year - Manzetti's - for a celebration dinner. We'll be driving out to the Inn on the Wednesday, so if anyone needs a lift, get a hold of us. We plan on staying at Highland Lakes through until Tuesday the 22nd, and the only accommodations available for that entire period is a cabin, so I guess we'll be playing Abraham Lincoln for a week. (Woodward all booked - damn!)

So...whaddaya say? Can we come? How about if we promise to bring presents?

Wow, I missed this development over the weekend. I'll buy ya a drink when you're in Charlotte.

I've been trying to avoid posting this, but I'm not going to make it to Jacko and Linda's wonderful place this year, either.

My 20 year HS reunion is the first week of September, so I will be traveling to Chicago for that and so can't make another trip so soon afterward. My immigration papers expire on Sept. 20, too.

Keeping my fingers crossed for 2009 and will eagerly gobble up all the reports of this year's trip.
