9/19 and 9/20- 2008 North Carolina Peep Meet!!!
In September of 2007, coming from multiple countries, 26 crazy, fun-loving peeps flew, drove or walked into the foothills of Western North Carolina for a big party....For some it lasted for a weekend..for others, over a week!
![]() The first ever HLI North Carolina Peep Meet was tons of fun! (Pictures of that party start here) ![]() Now its time to make plans for the 2008 version!!...After much discussion and very careful analysis (and after losing our first set of dates ), we have locked down the 20 room historic Lodge at Highland Lake Inn for the 2008 North Carolina Peep Meet. It would be nice to have most folks book into the Lodge so we can potentially get 100% Peep exclusive use! There is a game room downstairs and a wonderful lobby with fireplace and bar upstairs for hanging out together....But no matter which room you book, OR how long you stay , we have developed yet another Peep Discount special....20% off any of our lodging rates for this special week for qualified Peeps. SO, WHO IS INVITED?...WHO IS "Qualified"? ......Why that would be any friendly peep asking for the North Carolina Peep Meet Discount special when they book their room ....or ANY Peep who simply wants to join in the fun and lets us know here......and I hope all our friends over In the Roo are "listening" as well. Our room rates include a wonderful complimentary country buffet breakfast. Cottages with full kitchens are also available. Our rates are not cheap...but you get a LOT for the price. One does not need to stay at our resort to join us for the festivities. Let me know by PM if you wish to look into other local facilities and I will assist you. ![]() Click here for our website and more details.... Best airports are Charlotte/Douglas International (CLT)---a little over 1.5 hour drive away, but with the best connections. Greenville/Spartanburg (GSP) just down the mountain in South Carolina ...45 minute drive. Asheville (AVL)...almost always connects through Charlotte...but has some direct flights in...20 minute drive away. One might even consider the Atlanta airport if you got a really great rate...less than a 4 hour drive from here. Come on...lets make this a huge party....again! ![]() ![]() 28 Peeps signed up so far!: James A. and Julie from Bell Buckle, Tennessee! Pitt Alum(Ray) and Kathy, from Charlotte, North Carolina! mastequilapf(Josef) and Susangria(Susan), from Atlanta, Georgia! Andiline (Andrea)..all the way from Cologne, Germany! sctx (Scott) and LilG (Terri) from San Marcos, Texas! ncmarg (Marg) and Ed our neighbor-peeps from right here in Flat Rock, North Carolina! SunKneeMarie (Char), Mike and Miss Riley G from Flower Mound, Texas (7 minutes from everywhere)..they're in! The W's! Bonny and Mike from Moorpark, California..What a birthday present! Bumper (Bob) and Mrs. Bumper (Jackie) all the way from Winnipeg, Canada! monte (Shirlee) from Dallas, Texas..wonderin' about the wine !jmac(Jackie) all the way from somewhere in Manitoba!(wayyyy out in the sticks!) ![]() Trish and Manda from Round Rock, Texas! bizzokiki (Kim) and Matt from the burbs of Chicago! syl (Sylvia) and John and maybe Mom from the wine country of Santa Ynez, California!

Food is special here at our restaurant Season's...we should dine together (ala carte dinner, ala carte lunch and the huge Sunday brunch buffet)...our daily country breakfast buffet is included in your room rates....wine is special...we should drink some together...tequila....well you know the line with that
....no need to go anywhere off our resort property for a weekend full of fun..we have complimentary bikes, canoes and paddle boats, on-site yoga(modest fee), swimming pool (if its warm enough), tennis and a lake....all inclusive...check out our website local activities and area activities In-room massage available by reservation....Linda highly recommends these folks...and Fred and our Yoga studio are also right on property... The Lodge is a great place for a party. It has a game room downstairs with foosball, pool and ping pong..upstairs lobby has wormy chestnut bar, tv and a beautiful fireplace...If the group gets large enough, I might get a bluegrass band to play out by our pavilion next to the pool or down by the lake at a BBQ and campfire. Better yet, perhaps we can talk James A. into playing and singing a few songs for us...he is a fabulous performer....and I mean that! Fishing is very good...by September the water will start to cool a little and start to improve the bass fishing again...bass (some record size), brim(sunfish, blue gill), crappie, and catfish....no trout in our lake, but plenty in the streams around the area (Green River)...9 hole golf across the street with driving range...much nicer courses close by...see Good Golf And plenty to do nearby...most all inside a 25 minute drive....Shopping (antiques and art etc.) in Hendersonville is 5 minutes away...Asheville and the Biltmore Estate are about a 25 minute drive.....a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway is spectacular and very close by... Connemara, or the Carl Sandburg Home is 5 minutes away...nice hike...and more goats ![]() Dupont Forest and the waterfalls is really fun for a hike and only a 20 minute drive away...Chimney Rock park is also very cool... Our lake is smaller (40 acres)...serene and non-motorized...Depending on the size of the group, we could rent a pontoon on either Lake Lure or Lake Jocassee(my favorite lake in the world) These are large beautiful, spectacular mountain lakes where I take my bass boat. Horseback riding, whitewater rafting, tubing etc...all available in the area.... Lotsa, lotsa stuff to do.... Last edited by Jacko : 05-12-2008 at 08:34 PM. |

Aha! So this is where you keep your goats
I thought I remembered something about a bed-and-breakfast![]() We may be moving back home to Virginia in the near future so this would be a short drive for us (and its just about on our anniversary ). What a beautiful and fun way to spend a weekend We'll have to look very hard into this, depending on where we are in the next few months![]() |

Count me in as well (with a small question mark though). Since this is the weekend I thought about going home from Texas I could still come on the way back - I am flexible.
Not sure the trip to Texas will take place but I can still go to New York from there or in some other place... just need to work out how to get to your place from one airport or the other but I am sure we will find something. ![]() |
