nobody I know hates the US ( they wouldn't be my friends anyway). Maybe somepeople hate one specific person in the US ( can't name him, G.B ), but not the US as a country.

I suspect the issue isn't so much the hate Jaybird brought up but the standing of the US in the community of nations.

A story to clarify my point. During the Cuban missile crisis President Kennedy sent a diplomat to see deGaulle in France. The diplomat had highly classified photos taken by U2s of the Russian misslile sites in Cuba. Relations between the US and France had been running hot & cold for sometime.

The diplomat explained the situation to deGaulle and asked for assistance. The diplomat then offered to show deGaulle the photos. De Gaulle is said to have replied "The word of the President of the United States is good enough for me".

Imagine that happening today?

my Splurge ladies weekend is that weekend though, and it's only a two hour drive away.

And I can't miss out on our annual ladies long weekend drunkfest with all my girls. The horror!

Look where not listening to those of us with another point of view has gotten this nation. We are in not one, but two wars without end. We are thought of as an aggressor nation throughout much of the world. Our economy apparently is soon to be in a shambles. When people around the world think of the US they think of abu Ghraib, Gitmo and torture. And.... anyone who dissents in the US is so obviously pro-terrorist?

So what you are saying is that you are part of the blame America first crowd, and if anyone voices their opinion like wise is wrong. If you think that the US is a Gitmo the move to Cuba or Iran. I'll pay for your ticket out of here to Iran, but you have to stay there for at least one year.

I really don't care what the rest of the world thinks of my country. After all I know of very few people who are willing to die to get into Cuba,Iran,Russia,Sudan etc.

I think in the past there was a little bit of the jealous/hatred going on for Canadians toward Americans...kind of the way everyone likes to bring the head cheerleader or captain of the football team down a peg.

As far as the economyis concerned if we weren't busy supporting the rest of the world we'd be doing a lot better. I think maye the US should stop sending financial aid to just about every nation. WHen the EUropeans are in fear of the Russians taking over again and I think that P:utin just may bethinking of such. I think that maybe the US should just negotiate with Putin and say you take what you want, just liek we should have with Hitler.

Really how much worse off could have the wrold been if we had stayed out of WWII. If we had only took care of the Japanese and let Europe take care of itself we'd be much better of economically.
