jerk kills a puppy
Have you guys heard of the you-tube video that supposedly shows marines throwing a baby puppy over a cliff? If it's true, I'm very angry and want to do the same to some guy..........

I have seen it- not on youtube but on another site.
There is no "supposedly" about it- when you watch the vid (and I recommend you don't- it is sick and sad) you can see that this is not a photomontage or a joke. The two guys that can bee seen are in their attire- clearly soldiers. The one carrying out the sickness holds up the pup which is totally frozen in shock, grins from ear to earl and hauls it off the cliff. The camera follows the flight of the pup- luckily kind of blotched and luckily no details of the "landing" are to be made out. I watched it without sound- but it seems like the guys are having a lot of fun and jokes. The guy is a sick bastard- and stupid, too, as you can see his face well and now with the vid circulating it is just a question of time before he gets caught. I hope he'll lose his career over this and more. Deeds like this are despicable- and carrying them out in your work gear is even worse as it reflects upon the whole company, in this case the military. |

I googled to see what is going on with the story now.
The soldiers name was leaked and by now he is the target of a lot of hate. No wonder. Yes, maybe he was under stress and that twisted his "humour"- still, to me that is a reason but no excuse, really. It appears he and his mates were on duty in Iraq (?) at the time. On THIS page you can see that at first he didn't even seem to be sorry about what he did. Here is what someone posted copied from the guys myspace on the link above- what he had to say about it BEFORE he changed his attitude and started excusing himself all over the place after he had been caught....... “I want to say first of all that I am really sorry for the whole puppy thing. I don’t know why people are so pissed. It was a ****ING STRAY!!! Get the **** over it! You know how many people I see get blown away on a regular basis?!?! Shit Man Not only the towle heads out here but my own friends!” In another entry that is listed there he does apologize- and says it was due to the stress of duty and that the pup was a stray that he did something good to as it would have died anyhow. There is also his myspace page- set on private- and a new page on myspace about him which you can see HERE. On the left hand side if you scroll down there are three more videos of other soldiers on duty torturing animals- shooting on sheep, shooting and injuring a house dog (with a devastated owner coming walking to the dogs aid in the end) and laughing and throwing stones at an injured dog that hobbles away on two legs, much to the laughter of the soldiers involved. THOSE vids- to me- are almost even sicker than the one that is being discussed......... although that is hardly possible. I hope the other guys get to be trialled as well. Yes, they may have been under stress- and when confronted with death every day your perception of what is okay and not may warp. True. But again- to me that is a REASON but not an EXCUSE. |

I've seen the video and yes it's really cruel. But it's also best to keep some perspective. Some people will get more upset about this story about a puppy, than they will the brutal executions of real people over there.

By the way, I am sure it was not intentional, but I do not like the title of this thead...the fact that this jerk killed this puppy like this, really has nothing to do with him being a Marine....the title should say "Jerks killing a puppy" or something more accurately descriptive of the situation......

I believe there are likely tons of video footage you may not often see of innocent citizens getting killed in useless wars that accomplish nothing good and videos and discussions documenting needless disease and famine all over the world......people should talk more about ALL of these things I think. I think people just have to pay more attention and care more, and yes, talk more about ALL of these things.....about the needless and cruel killing of humans in the world, the needless dying due to disease and famine...AND the needless and cruel killing of puppies.... I think there are tons of threads out there discussing all of these things...I just have never heard of anyone caring more about a puppy than they might about a human killed needlessly..... While I do NOT agree with what this guy did, I think that we all have a hard time realizing what is going on in these guys heads. They see their friends gettting killed everyday, it's hard to tell how people will react after they are in these conditions for years.
I think this is HORRIBLE what he did and I believe that he should be punished, but we have seen more coverage over this then the soldiers that get killed everday |

From his myspace page, I gather that he is quite proud of his actions and thinks the whole thing is a joke. An isolated incident/prank brought on by extreme stress might be understandable, not excusable in its cruelty, but understandable at least. This guys has three other videos in the link Joana posted showing the torturing of animals. I feel badly that if this will reflect poorly on the marines. Other soldiers do not deserve to be implicated by the stupid actions of one person.
