Platinum Upgrade Worth the Money???
We are planning our honeymoon to GRP in July. Currently we are booked in the jr. deluxe suite with swim up access. We booked our trip through Vacation Express. I was wondering whether or not the platinum package upgrade was worth the money (total of $300). Also we are considering that the upgrade would put us in a larger and nicer room, but we would loose the swim up pool access. I was wondering if anyone who has recently been to the resort had any advice on whether or not the platinum package would be worth the extra money.

I'm Setting here reading about how many beers from the airport to the resort instead of working, and I have to ask, do you need to pick the beer up at the airport or do they have them on the van that takes you to the GRP??? Can't wait only 16 sleeps to go....This Canadian needs to unthaw. Thanks.

Don't count on the motorized sports allowance. I have not heard of ANYONE who actually got that. I was very annoyed too, as when I booked Platinum, I calculated the value of the "perks" in deciding to book Platinum. People are getting the massage, but that's about it.......

We will be at the Grand Riviera Princess May 9 - 16th. Upgraded to platinum because we read so many bad reviews about the other rooms. I understand that when we get there we should go to the Platinum lobby for check in, will there be someone there to direct us to the platinum lobby? If so, do we have to walk or do they have some kind of transportation? We would like to request an oceanview room, does anyone know the room numbers for oceanview? Also, will they let us make our reservations for dinner when we check in?

Hey everyone,
New to this page but I've been reading reviews on tripadvisor. It's great to see the positive reviews on here. Can't wait to be back in MEXICO!!! Wife and I are going to GSP May 10 - 17 for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Colonial in 06 and loved it! I can't wait for that 1st Carona and Quervo!!! I believe the theft problem has been dealt with. We were just at the resort Feb26 to Mar11 and one evening, in a hurry to get to my chocolatini, we forgot to lock our safe. On arriving back to the room, we discovered we were treated to turn down service, and our safe contents were untouched.

Hiya East Coast,
Middle Earth here, Although we didn't have any kids with us, the kids club team seems to do an excellent job. We saw soccer on the beach, water polo, and a mini disco in the evening with games aside from the main kids club house activities which are located behind the Riviera Suites. |

spoiled...we were there with "sunshinejk" and "sknywhch" and have to agree, room security was not an issue...in fact we took many gifts for the staff and had to verify with hotel security that we had in fact given them the gifts...all staff pass through a check point when both arriveing and departing the resort...most of those comments about room security I know come from people over at "TA" and I have found that site to be less than credible at best...sonofdob.

Hey sonofdob,
Just saw some pictures on another website showing some bottles at the Platinum bar. Sure enough they had Don Julio Silver. Didn't see any Anejo but the Silver's not a bad consolation prize. -Brugal |

Brugal...it's possible...the bars are well stocked and stacked three bottles deep ! I asked for Don Julio Anejo and they said they did not have it and directed me to Cazadores Anejo...it could be they were helping me with a comparable anejo as opposed to the another Don Julio ? It's also possible that they have even more selection now than when I was there as things, although good, got even better over the length of our stay...sonofdob
