Does any one have an e-mail address for the Grand Princess Sunset? I would like to try to request a room. Looking at a 3rd floor room and are booked in the Jr. Suites but hoping we may get upgraded to Jr. Suite Deluxe. Any suggestions on room number? Thanks!

Brugal...indeed...don't tempt me ! Playaluva...your looking for rooms in the 2000 and 3000 area...rooms on the ground floor have a "0" as the second digit for example we were ground floor in 3010...second floor the second digit is a "1" and of course third floor second digit is "2"...each building is a rectangle and the room numbers run sequentially clockwise around the rectangle...we were garden view, which is what we requested (at check in) and it was nice and quiet and we had the sunset on our balcony each evening...we were on the end of the building and I know beside us were rooms 3011 and 3012 etc on the garden view side...sunshinejk was pool view and maybe she can let you know what room numbers were pool view if that's what your after...sonofdob.

Question regarding room loctions
We are booked for 7 rooms 7/31 for the week. We chose the swim out pool rooms. My question is do all of these rooms face into the interior of the property or are there also some that face into the jungle? I saw a recent picture and some appeared to face out to the jungle
Also if you can tell me if they have wine available. Good? |

Brugal...sorry I forgot to answer one of your questions....did not see a tequila bar...though it may have been in the Platinum lobby and I never looked in there. centavo25...all swim up rooms face in...the pools are pretty much all connected and occupy the geographical center of the resort...so if your Riveria side you will get sun on your balcony all afternoon and if your Sunset side you will get shade all afternoon...I think what you saw was probably the area where "sunshinejk" was...she was in our building and had a swim out room but across from her swim out area there were trees that separated the swim up area from the main activity pool...basically there was a canal sort of pool in front of all the rooms that connected to the main pool area...I'm sure "sunshinejk" will be looking in here from time to time and she can maybe give you more info on that...on the wine...yes, they have wine but it borders on the undrinkable...it is some house brand that I am certain is probably made from some imported concentrate...honestly though I just went to Walmart in town and bought some very nice Chilean wines....bottles that I am familiar with at home that cost me in the $15 to $30 CDN range at home were readily available for $6 to $15 CDN...never tried to take any to dinner although I am sure they would be glad to serve you your own wine...they are very accomodating...sonofdob.

What About ???
Hey Sonofdob - Thanks for the info on the swim outs. Now I have a liquor question for you. Do you know what kinds of bourbons they serve. We have a few husbands that are die hard bourbon men. The wine ladies will be visiting the Wal-mart as you suggested. Also we had questions on if there is or if there is not room service available for non Platinum rooms.

centavo25....yes, plenty of bourbon, I am a fan myself and prefer Kentucky as opposed to Tennessee...they had Makers Mark, Jack Daniels and my favourite Jim Beam...bellaa...there is plenty for the teens...the miniclub staff actually tailor the activities for the different age groups....for that age the have volleyball, snorkeling, archery, water polo, etc....sonofdob.

I hate to say it but this place sucks.
This is my fifth trip to Mexico, specifically the Mayan Riveria and despite the fact that I just arrived today, THE GRAND SUNSET PRINCESS sucks. By the way, I have never ever had a negative TA review that I can remember and have loved every prior trip to Mexico.
Quite frankly the problem is not he workers or the facility, it is the management.I called Mexico to confirm my reservation on Wed for a pool access 2 doubles room. I get here early 10:30 am and am told yes the room has two beds. I come back smiling at 3:00, get my keys and go to the room only to find it has one bed. So I hike, and it is a hike back to the front desk to be told that they don't guarantee beds, requests for the number of beds is only just that, a request. Despite the fact that they took my money and charged me extra for the additional people. All in all I made five round trips to the room and back, including trying to find my luggage after waiting almost two hours (called four times) after I was told ten minutes. The management response is that they are overbooked(which I don't understand if you are paying in advance) and that I should be happy that I have a room at all. After one hour, they agreed to give me a roll out bed (twin) and the other kid could sleep on the couch. THIS IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. Another hour goes by and the bed arrives (still haven't seen my luggage). No sheets, no pillows,no blankets. So my kids are sleeping with pool towels as blankets, one on the couch and one on the rollaway. Now the only prblem is that I can't get out the doors to use the pool access as the rollaway is in the way and blocks the door. Added to this is that we got to the room and the tub was disgusting (not that I was going to use it) the mini bar had all empties and after spraying for the bloodsuckers, I have killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 75-100 (with family's help) of mosquitos. Additionally, the walls have lots of blood stains where people have killed mosquitos that have feasted, as well as, tonsofdead bugs smashed against the walls. They act like I am doing them a favor by giving them my money. By the way reservations required at all ala carte and you only get three for a seven day stay. Buffets are okay, but I am now in such a bad mood that I can't satnd to be at theis place. And I am a half full type ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() person. |
