[quote=gringo31;1102360]Hello Amigos,
14 days and counting! Can anyone who has already had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Sunset Princess tell me if you saw coconut rum offered at the bars? Looking for Malibu or Parrot Bay. Thanks!!!!![/quote |

spoiled...they have coconut rum, spiced rum, black rum, amber rum, white rum...you name it, they got it...bear in mind though, if you want a particular rum ask for it or you'll get their domestic bar rum...they have pretty much any liquor that you want but always ask for your brand by name or you'll get domestic stock...sonofdob

Hi SonofDOB,
That was a wonderful presentation and summary of your recent vacation at the Grand Riviera Princess. We will be going in three weeks and are very excited. Will Jim need a jacket and tie for the a la cartes? Do ladies dress up at night? From your description I was trying to figure out which suites were closer to the ocean. I think we have the deluxe suite. Did you go snorkeling? Was it decent? Some say they only speak Spanish and we have been hastily retrieving the little spanish we know; but the lady who answers the phone there speaks English if you ask her. Any trouble with the staff speaking Spanish? Any AC problems? Thanks so much for your pictures. Once again, the whole presenation was very helpful!! Andrea and Jim in Atlanta, GA, USA |

Andrea and Jim...thanks...hmmm, let me see on your questions...
Will Jim need a jacket and tie for the a la cartes? > no jacket required, no tie required...casual pants, button up shirt and closed toe shoes are all you need. Do ladies dress up at night? > somewhat...more at the al a cartes. From your description I was trying to figure out which suites were closer to the ocean. I think we have the deluxe suite. > closest to the ocean are platinum, then junior deluxe and then the deluxe...you are closer to the lobby end of the resort. Did you go snorkeling? > yes Was it decent? > no. Some say they only speak Spanish and we have been hastily retrieving the little spanish we know; but the lady who answers the phone there speaks English if you ask her. Any trouble with the staff speaking Spanish? > no, they all spoke Spanish very well...ha ha ha...you won't have any problems, but please try to speak Spanish as much as you can. Any AC problems? > no Hope that helps...let me know if you need more...sonofdob |

The platinum is absolutely worth it. I wouldn't go back to this resort any other way. Going Platinum was what made our trip. We didn't care for the resort itself or the beach, too rocky. All that Platinum offered, the private pool with your own bartender and private beach area with bartender along with a concierge in our Platinum lobby was well worth the $300 extra.

Just wondering, how far is it from the Platinum Pool to the other pools. Would it be easy to sit in the lounge chair at platinum section, but take a dip in one of the larger pools? I'm guessing that the platinum pool can get pretty warm by the end of the day, so I'd like to use the other pools, but still take advantage of the drink service at the platinum section.
