It's even more FABULOUS.....with friends! A "mostly pic" trip report

My last trip report was done "live" while in Playa. I was hoping to do it again this trip and I did bring my laptop again this time, but barely had time to turn it on!

It seems like the week really flew by unfortunately. I secretly wanted it to last forever.

This time was really special for me. Kenny and I were FINALLY going to Playa with our very best friends.

It seems like we waited forever for March 2 to roll around. We had made plans two years ago to come to Playa together and had gotten a great deal at an all-inclusive, but a family emergency came up and Nina and Danny had to go without us.

They enjoyed themselves very much and had come into town a few times but this time we twisted thier arms to stay in town rather than all-inclusive. This was no easy feat mind you.

Nina was pretty much open to the idea, but Danny was another story. He really enjoys the pool at an AI and loves the endless buffets.

I had my work cut out for me! Right up until the week before our trip, he was on the internet looking at "deals" for AI's.

It was killing me and all I could think was that he would hate the "condo" thing and it would be all my fault.

We left Boston without a hitch and arrived in Playa by 1pm. I've never seen the lines so long and we finally made it out of there and were on our way.

Arrived at Royal Palms and it was great to see Claudette and Dave once again.

They are great folks and have become our friends. We really enjoy spending time with them and they treat us so well.
We throw our bags into the condo to find that Claudette has left surprises!!

I love surprises!! Snacks and drinks....limes and salsa.......all kinds of goodies. She is such a sweetheart!!
We quickly change into shorts and grab a taxi to Walmart. Five bucks.

Yes, I know..........but we were in a hurry! We heard that they stop selling beer at 3pm on a Sunday. Come to find out it is I think 5pm at Walmart. As we speed thru the aisles, we drag Nina and Danny along. Keep in mind...........they've only done AI. Haven't really spent much time in town, much less at the Playa Walmart! Both of them are still doped up from the drugs taken to endure the plane ride.

Snap out of it, will ya!!

Okay, we circle the produce thinking we're missing the limes. Around and around we go............no limes. NO LIMES???

So, we're in the bakery department and as I turn.........there's Tyra!!

I adore this girl! We had plans to somehow connect when we got in, but I didn't expect it to be in person. Made plans to meet later on at Pinche Gringos for drinks after dinner and away we went.
So we grab all the stuff and head back to the condo. $2.50 this time.

Plus he helped with our groceries and beer. Needless to say he got a tip and the guy that drove us there did not.

Relaxed a bit and ate a couple of the yummy sandwiches we had bought at the Walmart bakery. The croissant sandwiches sure were delish.

The day is starting to catch up with us, but its time for dinner.......
We get dressed and head over to Il Pescatore on 10th and Calle 24. Its closed. CLOSED!

Why?? Don't know. We love this place. Maybe they're just closed on Sundays.

We hope to make it later in the week. We're off to HC de Monterray on Constituyentes.

We all enjoyed our meal and head over to Ah Cacao. I have talked non-stop about these brownies to my friends. I'm dying for them to try them. I get one and offer bites.......they don't love them.

Oh, gawd........if this is an indication of things to come......

Off to PG's to meet Tyra and Jurgen. We see Andy and Jen!! They're just about to eat dinner. We say quick hellos and let them enjoy what looks to be a delicious supper. We invite our friends back to the condo for drinks and many laughs.

We make it an early night. Tyra has to work the next day and travel day sucks after all.............

Day two....Monday March 3
We wake to a beautiful day!!

Hooray..........we can show our friends the beach....and the pool that Kool has to offer in case Danny misses that.

Kenny heads down to the beach along with Danny to save our chairs while us girls finish getting ready. I decide to have my coffee on the balcony and see Kenny and Danny talking to some hot chica near PG's! Just as I'm ready to strangle them both, I realize its Penny!!

We meet up for breakfast (which was an adventure in itself

) and then all head back down to Kool.

Lots of road work still being done on the road to Mamitas and Kool:

Its a glorious day and life is soooo good!

I think they're loving the beach:

We spend the day lying on the beach and Nina and Danny decide to be adventurous and take a walk down the beach

.......to the very end

......and Danny with no shoes

.......in case they want to walk on the street coming back.......

A few hours later my girlfriend surprises me with a present! Pomegranite Tequila!!

My newest passion.

Back at home we are obsessed with Pomegranite Martinis, so when she saw this, she knew she had something...........oh did she know!!

During the course of the week it seemed to become our quest to find the bars that made Pomegranite margaritas.

Or otherwise named Pomeritas.

I am proud to say that Pinche Gringos serves really delicious ones.

I found this out as I had inquired about them during breakfast on day 4. And I was more than happy to indulge in the sample I was given to try at 9am!!

What a way to start my morning!

But I digress.......
Back to day two........
So we enjoy the beach for most of the day and then head back to the condo to get ready for dinner. This night we decide to again try Il Pescatore. On the way there we stop in at Luna Blue for a few drinks at the bar. Great move!!

We meet Shammy and Linda (Doggiemom) and also Dawn:

Hugs to Tony & Cheri!! What a fabulous bar you have! I was hoping it would be open during our visit!

Before you know it, we're joined by Claudette and Dave. We had some really great laughs with them and invite them to dinner, but they've already eaten.

We indulge on what becomes our favorite drink. "Sarita B Careful". Translation: Pomergranite Margarita!!!!! Deeeelicious!

Had a really delicious meal here.

I had the ravioli stuffed with gorgonzola and walnuts. Nina had the Carbonara and Danny had a wonderful filet mignon. Kenny had lasagna. Nina and Danny later decided that this was thier best meal of the week.

We wanted to make a second trip back before vacation's end, but there just wasn't enough time sadly enough.

Hopefully there will be a next time!

What a fantastic trip report, love your great pictures!!

As soon as I saw the pictures of that rooftop patio at the Royal Palms I realized you were staying in unit # 10 which I think has got to be one of the best condos in all of Playa. I can not even begin to think how many gallons and gallons of Margarita's and boxes of cigars we have consumed sitting out on that beautiful patio and in the wonderful jacuzzi.

The unit is not listed on the Royal Palms website, you need to deal directly with the property manager if your interested in renting but beware you better be #10 "worthy" to be considered.
