"Are you done Ma'am?" - A Trip Report

A few weeks ago during a weekend party thread, Syl and I went off on a small tangent and a mini-peep meet was born. A few PM's back and forth and a date was set, the date was today Mar 21. A few days ago we started up the PMs again and made sure everything was set. BonnyW and I would meet up at Syl's house at 12 noon on Friday at 12 noon, in the small town of Los Olivos. Los Olivos is in the heart of wineries of the Santa Ynez Valley just north of Santa Barbara, California. Syl had planned a wonderful afternoon of a picnic lunch at a local winery, and visits to 4 or 5 wine tasting rooms in the heart of downtown Los Olivos, followed by a nice dinner at a local eatery.

The day started out well for us in the morning. We were packed, kitty's babysitter had her feeding orders, final emails completed, car packed, ready to go, except . . . . Well the previous day BonnyW had given the kitty sitter her house key, and we didn't know who would be home first the day before we were to see Syl. So I took my house key off my keyring, hid it, and whoever got home first would use it to get in. I got home first, got the key let myself, and I'll be damned if I know where I put that g0d@mn key. So we were set to go to Syl's on time, but could not find the freaking key to lock the house up, or let ourselves back in. 20 minutes later BonnyW found some keys on a ring and low and behold one of them worked on the house. Good enough we grabbed them. Off we left, 20 minutes late.

In the car and away we go. A beautiful day, warm, drove through the farmlands West of home, through Ventura, through Santa Barbara, then off the freeway. Pulled over, put the top down on the 2-seater, hats on our heads, and took off up through the San Marcos Pass. A beautiful drive, Spring flowers out.

Here is where pictures have to be put in, but alas as I sit in our room at the Marriot I don't have the cable with me.

Next posts, we meet the wonderful Sylvia, taste and buy some wonderful wines, see beautiful scenery, meet John, have a wonderful dinner and conversation . . .

Wine tasting. One of my favourite ways to spend a day, and in such great company too. Looking forward to this narrative.

Lucky Syl - I'm jealous! One of my favorite times with the Ws was when we were wine-tasting together one pleasant afternoon. And they taught me a thing or two, too! Looking forward to more AND pictures!
