Hola from Boston!

Ooops! Had a duplicate post and then mistakenly deleted both!! Not sure how that happened. Anyway - longtime lurker and have finally decided to post. We've been traveling to Mexico since the late 80's when Playa really was that sleepy little fishing village. Traveling to Tulum (first visit) on April
16th for 3 nights and then on to Playa for the rest of the trip, heading home on the 25th of April. Traveling with my 2 teens, ages 15 and 17. It is looking like the husband won't be joining us. Last trip was in 2006 to Coz with the kids and myself and we finished up that trip with one night in Playa at Las Palapas. We promised ourselves that we would get back as soon as we could. And....that time is almost here!! Can't wait to escape the chilly temps here west of Boston.

Thank you to everyone who posts the wonderful information here. I can't tell you how helpful it has been in planning this trip. Is it possible to become addicted to this site? If so, I think I'm in trouble!

Hi Heather,
Not sure what happened there??? Anyway - we are staying at Hemingway's. Couldn't get a room at Tita Tulum or La Conchita. Paola has been very helpful at Hemingway's. We're looking for a place where we can kick back and chill on the beach for a few days before we head up to Playa. Hopefully Hemingway's will fit the bill. What do you think?

Welcome, trvltime!! My first time through Playa was in 1990 when my cousin and I journeyed through on our way to Cozumel for a day trip from Cancun. Sure has change a bit since then, huh?!!?

Hope to meet up with you sometime in these paaahhts when we do our next Boston Peep Meet!! (I'm in Easton; David's in Fall River.)

Thank you for the welcomes! Eileen and Nerak - We live in Hopkinton - better known as the town where the Boston Marathon starts! Nerak - our relationship with the area began in 1988 when my bf (now husband) and I went to Cancun. We had been out way toooo late the night before at a great little restaurant/bar whose name escapes me right now - except I remember that the bar stools were saddles and they made a great drink called sexxy coffee!. Somehow we had been talked earlier in the day into a timeshare tour the next morning. I was not feeling very well the next morning so my hubby went on the tour alone. My parting words were - DON"T buy anything! What seemed like hours later he finally returned to tell me had purchased 2 weeks of timesharing! And so the story goes! We would often visit Isla and Playa on those trips. Then came marriage, children and a span of time when we couldn't get back to Mexico. We returned about five years ago to Cancun with our 2 kids and just about cried! We left our timesharing hotel the first day and spent the rest of the time on Isla. As a matter of fact -this trip was planned to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary which is on April 23rd! We have family that spend the month of March on Coz every year. Our favorite activity when we get there is hanging out all day at Playa Corona and snorkeling.
Would love to meet up with Boston peeps at a future gathering. And...Go Red Sox!

OMG

Your "finding Playa" story sound almost like mine! We too found Playadise in the late 80's (1989) on a side trip from Cancun. I have since lost track of how many times I've been back since.

We also live in the Boston area (MetroWest). We've heard of Hopkington ... might have even seen a sign for it once.

BTW ... when is your next trip to PDC? We'll be there again in June.

Welcome trvltime !

We're recent newcomers to the Peeps ourselves. We used to live in southern California (my husband is a native - rare in those parts)

which is when we first started to visit Playa. We moved to Boxboro nearly 5 years ago. Had to buy a condo in warm weather to remain sane.

Hope to meet up with you soon!

Looking forward to the next Boston Peep-Fest too!
