When we first starting talking about a anniversary trip, Mexico was an option. Kathy said she would love to go, but if it created any risk to a longish winter trip to the Yucatan, she would rather not. So, we decided on a short trip to Lopez Island, one of the San Juans that kinda lay between mainland Washington and Canada - in fact, you can see at least one of them from the restaurant that Leasa (Ginger) and John took us to in White Rock Canada last May.
To get there, we got up early on Sunday morning and drove to Anacortes to board the ferry to Lopez. The major San Juans are Lopez, Shaw, Orcas and San Juan. More people of have heard of Friday Harbor, which is on San Juan Island. Here are some photos from our passage on Sunday ![]() ![]() This vehicle was on our ferry, and was later featured as a big deal exhibit and lecture at the Community Center at Lopez Village ![]() Next the cabin and some other stuff Last edited by roni : 04-02-2008 at 07:15 PM. |

Lopez Island is kinda shut down this time of year, tourist wise, except for weekends. We arrived on Sunday. Not a lot was open, but we had some facilities that you will see after a successful upload of more photos.
We made great food with our limited kitchenette. Below is a shrimp / scallop /asparagus Ceasar salad we made one night. About 9 bucks in ingredients, a 9 dollar bottle of Spanish wine and we had a dinner that would have cost us much more than that at a restaurant - and we probably made it better. Afterwards it was time for business, and even at my advanced age, I remembered how to close the deal ![]() ![]() ![]() |
