Heard this too - anyone know details on how to get there and whether there are other good places to snorkel? Thanks!

I believe that the mystery animal is the agouti! We saw them on the grounds of the Sandos Playacar!

Wow nice - hope the suites treated you well. Too bad about your HD - for some reason so many think that because it's a computer it shouldn't behave that way.... neither should cars, stereos, light bulbs, toasters.... the list goes on.... What does the sticker say about where it was made?

Well it's time again. We are starting to plan our 2009 trip to Sandos PlayaCar.
I have been looking online and haven't found any really good deals yet though. We are trying to go from May 21st to May 25th. I sent the concierge an email to see what kind of "hook ups" we can get for being return customers so we will see what he has to say.
Anybody else planning on being there around the same time?

A group of us are kind of looking to go around that time. So if you find any good deals, let us know. We would be leaving out of Boston. Thanks

I answered on the wrong thread! :'( Goin' to hide my face in embarrassment now!

The creature on the beach photo is indeed an agouti/sereque....I was still 'reading' Missixty's trip report and got the two mixed up! :'(

This is a coatimundi:

This is an agouti:

Very different creatures but both very common around here. The agoutis seem to be more likely to be found on resort grounds, while the coatis generally stay a little more hidden in jungle areas, but will come out if someone has trained them with food. (At least that's been my experience, living here.)

We were having breakfast in the Quetzal buffet one morning when a coati jumped up on the table in the far corner, and helped himself to some packets of sugar before disappearing back into the 'jungle' area.

This was my 4th visit to the Tucan/Quetzal but my first and only encounter with this creature! I told Debbie (one of the reps at the time) and she'd seen one too, so I'm glad it wasn't just us!

That's interesting - did you join the Sandos Club before your first trip? Wonder if that carries any weight for a return trip. Looking fwd to any results you may discover...

We leave for the Sandos 1 week from Tuesday and cant wait. We stayed here year before last. Im getting alittle nervous about flying Viva Aerobus from Austin. Hope everything goes well.

There was a huge coatimundi at the Tequila when we stayed there last year. He was cool to watch but would run when you got to close.

We did join the Sandos club online and our travel agent linked the number to our reservations so wondering if anyone else has done this and if you got anything special in your room. Also is there a certain room in the new section that is more desireable than others. Should I email the resort and ask for a certain room? We loved the place before all the add ons and changes. I dont want to be rude but we have no desire for any time share presentation so we are going to tell them when we check in to not send us to the time share people and we want to go straight to our room, I hope thats not going to be a problem.
