Hi Syl! Funny thing was that I started to feel guilty - Like I should have checked that we had everything wen we walked out of the door!

Years ago ( time before digital cameras) I used to do many trip report type cartoons but those alone wouldn't do justice to Playa

What a fun report!!! You're English is excellent- it is my native language and I haven't had the patience to write a trip report, yet, so I'm really impressed by the time you took to write this

Can't wait for the next installment!!
Thanks for the compliment, Buggirl! I try not to assault your native language too badly! (Think I just did?)

What a start.....

how many times do you get to return home? I'm glad it was your husband and not mine; or he might not be around now. It doesn't seem to matter how well you plan things and check them, something always gets left behind.

Can hardly wait for the rest of your report!!!!

Great Start- I love the trip reports and of course the pictures!!
Nova Scotia has some of the toughest no-smoking laws around. No bars, No Restaurants, no workplaces, and as of today we are the first to ban smoking in cars when children (under 19) are present. We have one or two town that have banned smoking in ANY public place including outdoors within town boundries.

I (and I suspect I'm not alone) vote for more cartoons! That was great and it really sets your report apart.

Day 2 – Like a Virgin

I woke up at 5 am, I was tired but couldn’t sleep anymore so I made some coffee and went to the balcony; it was nice to be able to do that without putting on five layers of clothes !
It didn’t take long after hubby joined me. We enjoyed the view awhile and then decided to take a walk along the beach.

View from our balcony
This picture was taken later during our trip but I didn't notice much change of the view

We didn’t go to the grocery store on Sunday so we needed to get some breakfast too. I had this picture in mind where the two of us were sitting on some nice beach restaurant having breakfast and watching the sun come up (On Monday morning? At 6am? Dream on!)

I just had to do this...

this boat had a same name as my daughter

When we reached the 26th or something street with no open bar/restaurant in sight, we decided to go to 5th –some place got to be open, right? Well, we finally had breakfast at Las Mañanitas close to the 4th street. Hubby had Huevos Mexicana but I already diverted from our “when in Rome…” rule by having bacon and eggs! Well, I managed to order those in Spanish so I guess it’s ok.
After breakfast we went back to the hotel; I got us beach towels from the reception and since the beach was still empty we could choose one of the four palapas they had

It was so nice and relaxing, this was something I had waited since September.
After awhile hubby and I looked at each other;
-Is it time already?
-Hm…I think so…what time is it in Finland?
-I think it’s 6pm…
-Then it sure is time! Beer or a drink?

I felt adventurous and wanted a Margarita. I had never had one so I couldn’t think a better moment. Tequila was not one of my favorites- years ago when I had a night out with my girl friends we had some tequila shots in the bar and before I knew it, I was on the dance floor loosing my memory, dignity and purse…not necessarily in that order though.
Ok, so we had Margaritas – and then we had another ones because I had to be sure if I really liked it or not…but I couldn’t figure that out during our two weeks trip!

We ordered nachos con pollo and some guacamole from the bar, both were delicious!

In the menu it said “snacks” but the portions were so big that we were stuffed.

It was 3pm when we decided that it was enough for a one day.

Now I’m SURE that before leaving the room in the morning we applied sunscreen but where, that’s another question…I burned my right foot pretty bad and some other parts, too and hubby burned his both legs and feet (no doubt he would have been totally burned if he hadn’t had the rest of his body in the shade of the palapa). I had sp 30 sunscreen with me on the beach and after carelessly adding some I had some cute bright white spots here and there…like we didn’t know. While reviewing the damages back at the hotel room I asked hubby why he thinks he was burned while he normally never does -I don’t know, I applied the sp 10 we had. We don’t have any sp 10…we have 20 and 30 but not 10. Then he showed me the bottle –it was my body lotion with firming Q10!
We were still a bit jet-lagged so we didn’t want to wander very far and ended up at Carboncitos. I remembered the name because I had printed out the “Updated Playa Restaurant List” but I couldn’t remember what we supposed to have there so we had their version of Tacos al Pastor and I must say it was really good. They had nice candles at the tables - actually just a normal candle but it was wrapped in some kind of a wax paper or something to prevent the fire go out in the wind. I said to hubby that it would look nice on our balcony table and I was right!

No, I didn't snatch it...they gave it to me.

Mas! Mas!! More! More!

Such a GREAT trip report. If you're facing Bad Boys from the beach, is the Mimi del Mar to the right? If so, I love that little place. Our first trip to Playa, we hung out there. We had great drinks (huge strawberry daquiris) and great snacks. Our waiter, Alfa, was awesome. We met some great people from Tampa and hung out with them for a few hours. We went back 6 months later and Alfa was still there and still fantastic!

Oh, and you're really stepping up the trip report game with the drawings! The are hilarious!

Thanks Rebecca!
Yes, it's right from the Bad Boys and we loved it too! I agree, their drinks were very good and the staff was very helpful, there were two guys working at the beach bar but I'm hopeless with names (unless I write them down) so I addressed them both as "señor".
