![]() Cinco de Mayo is rarely observed in Mexico, since the date has no particular significance except in the state of Puebla. The big celebrations are in th US. Many people are under the impression that the 5th of May is Mexico's independence day, which it is not. |

Mexican Indepence day
Hi Newbie-
September 16th is the big mexican holiday, equal to the US 4th of July. They won Independance from the Spanish . I was in Valladolid just this September 15 & 16- Two days of live music in the town square, fireworks and a great parade (for Mexican standards.) All the marching bands were terribly off key but what the heck- everyone was having a great time and it was loads of fun. On Isla they had lots of lighted decorations, but didn't see much in Playa. Have fun on this site- Everyone is really great and there's lot's of good info.- RangerDon |
