Don't let Mindbender hear you insulting British food, now. I did that...once. He set me straight. apparently it has 'improved'.

hey Jimmy MN- my hubby is coming to Minnepolis for work next week. How has the weather been?

What are grits, exactly?
Rhymes with nits too closely to sound very appetizing.

easiest thing to compare it to is cream of wheat....usually served wiith breakfast.
The creamy gravy...which Matt refers to as a sausage gravy(thats what his dad uses) is also more of a southern thing. Like what you would find in Biscuits and gravy
Matts dad is from alabama.

Grits are really nothing more than coarse-ground corn. Usually served at breakfast, like oatmeal, but you can really have it with any meal, similar to polenta. Grits themselves don't have a lot of flavor - unless of course you doctor 'em up good with lots of butter and sugar. Anything with enough butter and sugar is good!

Cream of wheat is good. Oatmeal is good. Grits are disgusting! To me, there is no comparison at all. They're real grainy... kind of like eating creamed sand. Now, if you make them savory instead of sweet, they're edible. In fact, the cheese grits that Jacko's place serves are worthy of a second helping.

And chicken fried steak? Might as well just shoot yourself in the chest. It's a heart attack waiting to happen, kind of like that gross stuff with fries and curds you guys eat up there, Riss. Poutine, is it? *shudder* I'm sure it all tastes darn good though.

It was 52f last Sunday... we got 8 inches of snow on Monday. By next week, we'll be back in the 50's and the snow should be mostly gone.

Jump on the plane and I'll show you a goodtime while hubby's working.

You're right, Susie - getting past the texture of grits is the hardest part for me. Not quite as crunchy as creamed sand I don't think, but close! That's the reason for all the butter and sugar. Savory grits are better, especially cheese ones.

What exactly is wrong with British food................when America ceases to sit at the top of the worlds obesity league, that'll be the day that Americans can criticise other nations food.

If it gets people going I'll make up as much as I can. By the way why would any sane government even have to consider weather murder or homicide should be made legal?
