Julie's brother...hip-hip-hooray!
Julie's 38-year-old brother, was just made Captain, as in head-honcho, of this submarine
USS Maryland (SSBN-738) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I believe it is the largest in the world. Regardless of your geo-political views, if we are going to have this sort of war machine, he's the kind of guy you want running it, trust me. We're both very proud. I had really better treat his little sister right, now! |

I love submariners !!!
Congrats to your brother in law. My brother was the CO of the USS Trepang and the navigations officer for the USS Kamehameha. Be sure to visit the sub and go for a ride when they have family day He also helped design/build some of the larger subs in Groton Ct. after his tour of duty. Amazing boats !!!Last edited by TAPPY : 04-03-2008 at 12:23 PM. |

Life must be consistently hard on them subs.
![]() Congrats, though! I experienced similar feelings when one of my best friends got his first Portuguese Navy command (well before that I used to see him in Portsmouth when the Navy cargo ship he captained came to the UK to pick up supplies for UK and US forces fighting the first Gulf War) and also later when he was put in charge of the Azores Naval Command. [quote=Bumper;1093186]Way Kewl!
I understand there are very few rules to be observed in order to be a successful submariner. 1. Try to make the number of ascents equal the number of descents. 2. Close the door. Bumper, I have to ask. Do you make this stuff up?! ![]() |
